♡ + cold weather!

Koishi’s been wandering for a few years (at least) now, so she’s used to dealing with cold weather. She can handle it okay--it’s better than being hot, in her opinion--but winter tends to make her sad. 

It gets dark fast, things are dying, all the humans stay inside...it’s a very lonely season for her.

a scowl forms on the man’s lips as he feels something bump into him from behind. his patience had already run low for the day - for some reason. perhaps it was because he was plucked straight from his world and placed into this...strange, odd place - but he didn’t like it a single bit. it ruined the flow of his own scheduling, and now without any set plans put into motion, tony had absolutely no idea what to do.

he turns to look over at the perpetrator, the frown on his lips never ceasing to leave. any friendly aura he could’ve given off clearly wasn’t there, but it’s not something he really cared for in the moment.

17. Are they more shaped by nature or nurture — who they are, or what has happened to them? How have these shaped who they’ve become as a person?

like the rest of his character, deidara falls in a gray area in between nature and nurture; the influences of both sides of this question are important to his overall personality! 

deidara has always envisioned bigger things for himself. from a young age, his environment raised him as a skillful, powerful shinobi, as he trained directly under the third tsuchikage. with the tsuchikage’s style of earth, fire, and dust did deidara develop his explosive clay fighting style. however, at some point his surrounding environment turned it’s back on him, ridiculing him for his dreams to become an artist. his inflammatory reaction was to promptly steal the tsuchikage’s forbidden kinjutsu that gave him the mouths on his hands, enhancing his abilities as a shinobi and artist. 

this incident marked deidara’s defection of iwakagure and began a short period of time as a free-lancing artist and mercenary. 

i interpret this time in his life as the only time he has ever felt “free,” as it was after iwakagure and before the akatsuki. especially considering his young age during this time period, and every traumatic and violent thing to happen since then, deidara does not recall it accurately. as we look at our childhood with a sense of fondness, but ignorance, so does deidara at his own. he doesn’t really understand how lucky he was to be scooped by the akatsuki and given a mentor to guide him. he thinks, yeah the akatsuki beats living on the run as a missing nin, but he doesn’t understand the harmful effects from that period. a young boy of great potential could have faced many incidents of manipulation and violence by employers, as well as practicing poor healthcare while on the run. yikes man!

these events have incredible influence on deidara, whether he ever acknowledges it or not. from the get go, deidara has been headstrong, dedicated, and quick thinking, with a love for art and everything that encompasses that – artistic expression, creativity, the forum space it creates, and most of all, the beauty in the short lived and what it feels like to express it… all he has ever wanted was a platform to be acknowledged as an artist and person, to show someone how he sees the world, and every time something has gone wrong. and each time, deidara has chosen to become someone capable of great evil in response. 

throughout his time with the akatsuki, he matures into a man of survival, with fickle definitions for the meanings of freedom and loyalty. his ‘duty’ is to whatever will allow him to practice his art. and he is, in every way, a criminal! he accepts the blood on his hands but is able to dismiss it without second thoughts. for every time the world has told him his art was trash – iwakagure, the akatsuki – deidara intensified his attachments to it and the ideas of temporality. this definitely doesn’t justify his actions, but it does provide additional insight on deidara. 

TLDR, the fair answer would be both! nature and nurture do not exist separately in vacuums. deidara is a great example of how intertwined and influential they are on an individual, any individual, even.

7: What is your preferred roleplaying style and why? (semi para/para/mirror etc)

Paragraph or short paragraph. I’ve found that for some reason I tend to start struggling to figure out what to write after ~100-150 words… but I’m also kind of anal about trying to match length unless I’m super tired. Unfortunately that’s just the case sometimes; I’m always sleepy.
