Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up
Alexis Taylor's solo career showed me a members of an electronic music outfit can strike on his or her own. I mean, there are many cases of this, including Dave Gahan. Actually, I'm surprised he waited quite long to do his debut, since he made his introduction in the form of a disc during the naught, when Depeche Mode were on a hiatus. To be honest, I am surprise no one from the group he sings in appears there, because Paper Monsters reminds me of what the band could have done between Exciter and Playing The Angel, had they decided to do a quick LP after their touring. While you notice Mr. Gahan has an abundance of energy – his consequent LPs with Depeche Mode benefitted greatly from Paper Monsters –, he really needed his colleagues here.
