Here is my #DeeBeeCaster™, built in 2013 or 2014 with @maverick_guitar and @stewmac_guitar parts. I have been playing it a lot lately...and thinking. . Friends, I find myself at a crossroads, as many of us do, no doubt, at this bizarre point in history. Actually, I find my life is at several crossroads right now...but let's keep this focused on guitars! In terms of my guitar collecting/appreciating/playing/photographing life, the crossroads is this: I'm simply no longer in a financial position to continue collecting vintage guitars and amps. Anything even remotely desirable is now priced beyond my means. Even stuff not remotely desirable is getting out of hand, price-wise! . So I'm seriously considering getting back into building my own parts guitars. Just to feed my need for regular change and novelty in my collection. My initial forays into the hobby resulted in mediocre instruments that were not what I would call "cheap" once the bill for all the parts was tallied, but they were still significantly more affordable than buying guitars in the retail or even the private markets even before the prices went through the roof. Plus, the guitars I built were mediocre not through any lack of quality in the parts I used...it was mainly because I didn't know what I the heck I was doing, flailing around in the dark a lot, jamming square pegs into round holes (metaphorically-speaking of course)! 🤣 I like to think I have matured nicely, like a fine Bordeaux if you will, in the last 6 or 7 years, and could do a better job now than I did in my mispent "youth". . Idk. I have to do something to get out of this funk.
