Born in 1971 in Dallas, TX, Erykah Badu later was discovered and quickly rose to fame. Her soulful voice garnered her much attention; which she used to drive her philanthropic efforts forward. One of her more notable achievements was renovating the dilapidated Black Forest Theater in Dallas into a space for charity events and theater. She also formed B.L.I.N.D. (Beautiful Love Incorporated Nonprofit Development), which is housed in the same building.
