doctor who

if nobody has me i know the doctor who practical effects and set designers team has me!! i am consistently impressed by the quality of doctor who practical effects even in episodes that otherwise may not wow me. it's true i haven't seen a good chunk of the show (none of the classic episodes barring a few scenes my partner has shown me containing good creatures and nothing past season. uh. eight? i think we were in eight? of the modern show) and i'm sure there's some duds in there but i know one thing about doctor who and it is that it will show me a fucking THE CREATURE!!!!

21. Part of canon you think is overhyped

well i am who i am. and i am someone who finds morrison's doom patrol to be decent in its best moments with one or two genuinely very good issues (although "going underground" is the only issue i can remember currently) and absolutely abysmal at its worst. people remember one or two arcs--the painting that ate paris is the one everybody talks about as being a work of genius so of course there's that, then usually they remember the final arc with the candlemaker, then if you're lucky they'll be like oh! and the decreator! or oh! and the scissormen! but they don't remember the absolute slog of the bureau of normalcy, they don't remember most of down paradise way beyond "gay street," they don't remember when we had to go to another dimension and cliff got crab legs. because those issues are largely bad. the pacing is crude and the characters are unbalanced and at every opportunity morrison wants to tell you about how transphobic and racist they are and it is just quite frankly exhausting and i hate it.

📚 Worst book you've read lately!

Been a while since I read a truly bad book but I was deeply underwhelmed by the titular story in Seishi Yokomizo's Murder at The Black Cat Cafe. Just far worse than his other Kindaichi novels. The second story included was great though

1. The first comic you got?

Embarrassing that I reblogged this and the first question is one I don't know the answer to. But I'm gonna guess it was the TPB of the first part of Gotham City Sirens I got at a huge price reduction on Free Comic Book day one time.

6. The comic you were most excited to find?

I remember almost crying when I found Bootleg Steele in the back room of my favorite store lol

Love how Gerry Connway left marvel and went what If Flash Thompson was the teen hero with relatable issues and the nerd was the asshole bully? I need Ronnie and Peter to meet

i don't think they'd get along sadly... neither of them are particularly good at making friends and ronnie loves to put his entire foot in his mouth in every day conversation. i think even post-ostrander ronnie would be a little too abrasive for adult peter's tastes.
