Just casually strolling past a squad of pom-pom anemones.
Deep-sea animals, including these pom-pom anemones (Liponema brevicorne), often perch in areas like this because of the ocean currents that stream around the contours of rocky ledges of seamounts (mountains on the seafloor). The currents bring nutrients and drifting plankton to the filter feeders that thrive in these areas. Learn more about these incredible invertebrates on our YouTube channel.
