I am working my way back westward after a nice trip, and stopped briefly at an antique store where this basket of antlers caught my eye. Check out the label, which claims these are "sheds", as in seasonally dropped so the deer can grow new ones next spring. Ah, no. Those are not sheds. There are pieces of cranium clearly attached to the proximal ends. That's the sort of "shed" that is literally once in a lifetime.
