மாவீரன் புகழ் எங்கும் கொண்டாடட்டும்!
When I say the former lounge room(?) I was standing in was deathly still, i mean that the flies that buzzed around the huge corpse were the only movement, but my eyes were still adjusting to the shadows. I was starting to really hope that i wasn’t supposed to be meeting someone named Amy. The claw that suddenly tore through my hoodie and my favorite magic the gathering t-shirt could have just as easily ripped through my shoulder blade had i not instantly shot forward away from the attack in that moment. In the same movement of paranoia fueled adrenaline i summoned my mostly-decorative-slightly-useful oversized scythe into my hand and swung it in a large arc in my attackers direction. The form dropped under the blade and before i could think about blinking it was within kissing distance. It’s blood red eyes glowed against the pitch shadows and filled my vision with it’s hunger and proximity. But still before i could blink it’s eyes grew large and unfocused before it bolted out the door i had just entered. “Sorry about that” said a calm and silky feminine voice from behind me. “He’s usually so fond of new people.” I started to spin around and got my cartoonishly large scythe caught on something and before i could blink both it and I clamoured to the floor with as much grace as a dog on a slipping on its own pee. Without even making an effort to stand back up i finally glanced back towards the face that perhaps owned the voice i just embarrassed myself in front of but the face was much more familiar than i was expecting. My cousin walked towards me fluidly and with grace that contrasted dramatically what i had just portrayed. I blinked. .. “Now before i explain the rest i have to address the elephant in the room. The apocalypse and all this, it’s been really inconvenient to say the least. The world is falling to pieces and someone has to at least try to fix it or something before we all end up dead because i like not being dead.” After a long pause i said “was that a pun??”
The cool air of the empty suburbs whipped across my face as I glided between the oppressively bright full moon and the broken, littered and bloodstained residential street. I was used to the smell of death and burning by now but it was the occasional screams that you just never get used to. I was meeting something new tonight, in a part of the town i hadn’t visited since before the awakening. I floated effortlessly towards the distressed looking suburban house that i felt probably looked the same even before all the weird stuff. The fresh grave in the front yard under the gum tree was as out-of-place as clean clothes, not because it was a corpse that was actually buried but because it even had a marker. “Here lies Amy” was the message scrawled on the plank with a visible attempt at good handwriting. Inside the house looked just like the outside, and was also partly outside thanks to the maybe elephant sized hole in the ceiling and the elephant sized crater in the floor and the elephant.
