I forgot to say this the other day, but there were two bucks in my grandparents yard. I watched them from inside the house. One was a sixer, the other was too far away to count his points. They both looked like they were about 3 years old based on neck size, they’re getting great nutrition from the neighborhood’s gardens. They munched on some flowers for a little bit, then both laid down under a tree and groomed themselves, then they both took a nap. It was awesome watching them like that. I was enthralled by every move they made. Effortlessly beautiful, majestic animals. I am envious.
My phantom antlers are back, as bucks are antlered this time of year. They’re heavy and it hurts my neck, but I do like my antlers. When the bucks are antlered mine grow back, I feel the pain and itchiness of velvet shedding, I feel the urge to ram and butt, I feel the urge to fight other bucks to have the opportunity to mate, I feel startled when the antlers drop. My antler shifts follow the seasons perfectly, even if I’m not aware that velvet is peeling or antlers are shedding yet. When my antlers are present they’re 24/7. It’s definitely uncomfortable and sometimes painful, but I love that my antlers follow the seasons and are very consistent. I didn’t realize I had a deer ‘type when I was younger, I always felt a pull towards them but I assumed it was just because of the symbiotic relationship between deer and wolves. But when I finished puberty I started getting antler shifts and they’ve been completely consistent since they started. I know I am, in some way, a deer. I am a buck, I am wild and fierce. I may be prey but I am not prey who just runs. I fight back, I am not afraid to gore predators with my antlers. I may not be a large deer, but I will fight to the death - whether that ends in my death or my attackers death or both - I am fueled by adrenaline and fear. I will die fighting.
Mule Deerkin culture is having big soft phantom ears and beautiful dark eyes and a crippling anxiety disorder which makes you physically jump at the slightest scare 🤦
therian/otherkin culture is...
