Winter hobby: cross-looping snowy woods by following deer tracks. Its wintry bonuses: All snakes are sleeping (snakes are cool, but there are some venomous badasses you want to stay away from and better admire them from afar). Ticks are frozen (YES!). Uneven snowy terrain makes a great legday. (Sidenote: I definitely weight less than an average deer, but sometimes their prints barely touch the snow cover, while I fall knee deep into it; - contemporary physics aside, I bet deers are using some elvish antigravity technologies on their hooves). There's an ocean of deliciously fresh & healthy conifer air to breathe. Forest sounds are soothing (except if a weird bird suddenly shrieks right above your head). It's also a great eyesight exercise: to focus and shift from looking down -to panoramic and up scans.(These woods are not deep into wilderness, but there's always a "Dark Forest" chance encounter with wild boars, moose, (rabid) fox, lynx, wolves or a bear (Or a human). Also, trees are falling occasionally, and they're huge, so it's a good habit to keep an eye and ear on them.) * * * “Stupid deer," I said, embarrassed about being startled. "We need a ladder." "I think they're easier to shoot with a rifle." "I'm not talking about the deer," I said, hitting Milo on the back of his shoulder. "We need a ladder to look over the wall." "Or a catapult," Milo said seriously. ― Obert Skye, Pillage
