Welcome to the Fab40s! We’re a group of bloggers in our 40s who love having fun with style, and every month we each style a particular theme. This time it was my turn to choose the theme and so I opted for outfits inspired by a necklace.
I knew almost immediately which necklace I wanted to be inspired by. It was this silver beauty:
It was bought years ago. So long ago, in fact, that I can’t even tell you where I bought it from! But isn’t it gorgeous? I was actually reminded of it recently when the gorgeous Catherine wore one that is almost identical. She styled it quite differently from me – although we’re both wearing suits (well, kinda).

My suit isn’t actually a suit. The jacket came from George at Asda, and the trousers came from Zara. But both have the exact same faux leather detailing to them. Weird, huh? I didn’t actually photograph the detailing on the trousers though (eye roll). Initially, I tried on a pink top beneath the jacket, but it didn’t look quite right. So I decided my necklace-inspired outfit needed to be all black. So I put on one of my trusty H&M vests that I love so much.
#gallery-0-8 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-8 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-8 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-8 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
As for footwear, I could have gone down the dressy route, but no. I wanted to showcase how great trainers can look with a dressy outfit. And don’t they look great? They’re the same as my red Skechers (which I’ve worn loads already). The only difference is that they’re all suede instead of leather. I absolutely love them and think they look super cool with this necklace-inspired outfit. The black clutch and stunning silver ring were inherited from my late step-mother-in-law, by the way.
But that’s enough about me. Let’s see how the other Fab40s gals wore their necklace-inspired outfits…
Jennie, a Pocketful of Polka Dots
Jennie’s look is utter perfection, right? To me, it screams Autumn (Fall) Boho Chic, and I love it. The hooded colourful cardigan is absolutely gorgeous – I’d love one just the same! And it’s so clear that the necklace was the inspiration behind this look. Love it, Jennie!

Shelbee, Shelbee on the Edge
I think Shelbee is totally rocking this theme. Don’t you think she looks a bit Madonna-esque circa 1984? But with a totally modern spin on it. I simply adore everything about it. Shelbee certainly really knows how to style a pearl necklace or two!

I’m LOVING Daenel’s look this month and her photo is spectacular, right? I’m so coveting those boots, the necklace and the earrings lol. Seriously stunning (not to mention the fab boyfriend jeans and blouse!).
Dee, DeeSayz
The only way to describe Dee this month is: elegance personified. I’m so in love with this look, Dee, and your necklace is absolutely GORGEOUS!
