Entirely the bae’s idea, but I wanted to sketch it out super bad so... this happened.

this doesn’t have a title

It seems I have been 

                            fossilized-- 

                                       preserved as a husk

here is my placard, shining in gold next to myself:

                         “Heather Fricke”

fossils don’t have eulogies or memorial services. 

there is no obituary.

a museum could be considered a final 

resting place of sorts--a place

                to gather dust, a place to settle down like sediment.

but there is no rest one when is

                                          resurrected 

                                                 over and over and over. 

“Look, there she is,             a specimen. Prone

to anxiety, a choice example of brokenness.” 

a museum for fossils doesn’t list accomplishments.

fossils don’t accomplish. they demonstrate--

passively-- the most basic representation

of their former selves.

Are you looking at the stony gaze, or the frozen scars?

Learn, learn. Museums teach, and I 

am just

                a fossil.
