DNC Reviews: 4x02
So this was an interesting episode because all three plots were through the POV of the junior class which doesn't happen very often. Overall, I enjoyed this episode, particularly Saad’s.
Frankie’s Plot
This was a typical Frankie plot. Frankie is a mess and makes me cringe through second-hand embrassment.
This plot was basically a set-up for Frankie’s interactions with Zig and Esme and also gave closure on Frankie and Jonah’s relationship (thank god that's over)
Frankie was acting really immature as usual in this episode which was annoying (but also her being a melodramatic mess is always entertaining)
I loved the scene with the Hollingsowrths. I always love their sibling interactions.
But yeah. Overall it was a solid plot that was also a good set-up for the Frankie/Esme/Zig plots that'll come up
Saad’s Plot
This is Saad’s first POV plot and I enjoyed it a lot. I think he's becoming one of my favourite characters.
I liked the brief look we got into his home life and his sister seems pretty awesome!
I liked how this plot highlighted how misunderstood he is and how lonely he feels in Canada. I also liked how they showed the differences between him and his sister.
Zig and Tiny are idiots
Saad/Lola interactions!! Yay!! Although she was kind of rude firing him when she had no proof it was him.
God I feel bad for Saad
Anyway. This was my favourite plot of the episode. I loved the insight we got into Saad and how it explored his thoughts and feeling for the first time since he’s been on the show.
Shay’s Plot
This plot felt really random, like it was supposed to be the start of an ongoing storyline but then just... Wasn't.
Also the story kind of wrapped up too quickly. Like Lola just forgave her and then offered her money? It just left me thinking. What what the point of dedicating screen time to this storyline?
Also what was Shay’s plan? Was she just going to keep stealing from Lola every month to fund her supplements or what?
Shay seems really obsessed with getting this athletics scholarship. I don't know much about university in Canada but every other character seems to be able to afford to go to university without a scholarship and it's not like Shay’s family is poor.
Although this plot was kind of weird, I did like how we got to see Shay act in a questionable way because usually she's really cautious and does the right thing all the time so it was interesting to see her be more vulnerable and impulsive.
In short, this episode was decent. Saad’s plot was my favourite and i really enjoy his character. Shay’s plot was probably my least favourite because of how random it was and how quickly they wrapped it up.
