Postcard from March 10, 1916 by Alexandra Feodorovna to Lili Dehn.
The Empress wore: “Dearest Lili, It was a great joy seeing your precious child. He was very good and well behaved, natural & not a bit shy..."
Lili’s son was, Alexander "Titi" Leonide, was Alexandra's godchild. Although he had been baptized Lutheran at birth, the Empress had ordered that he be re-baptized into Orthodoxy in 1915:
“— This is more than a wish, Lili,” She said, looking at me with a serious gaze. “This is My command. I insist that My godson be Orthodox. He must be baptized before Christmas.”
On this postcard, the Empress is shown in her 1903 ball costume, scattering gifts to joyful soldiers — a clear personification of Russia offering blessings to her army.
