Wedding Day || Cynthia & Robin
Reposted starter for @deintegro’s over-studious and late ass
Some days Cynthia had difficulty believing it was all real. She’d grown so used to living in a world of nightmares, hunted in her waking hours by creatures out of myth and in her dreams by her own twisted imagination, that she’d long ago stopped trying to draw a line between her fantasies and reality. It made her overly cheerful, sometimes even frustrating to be around - but it was one of the few ways to cope.
Which was why when she woke up to find that Robin wasn’t in their bed, she’d originally had another moment of despair, thinking that she’d somehow dreamed the entire affair. Thankfully the man had left a note on the pillow to reassure her, as she slowly picked it up and blinked blearily until the words came into focus.
I know you prefer me to still be there when you awake, but the others insisted that it’s bad luck to see your bride on the day of the wedding. There’s some tea on the table for you, should you need your nerves calmed.
Going off of the stains on the note, it looked like Cynthia wasn’t the only one who needed some tea to calm her nerves. The princess broke into a grin, remembering that it was all real - and that she was getting married today, of all things. How had she forgotten that?
“Because you’re a dunce. Duh. Now hurry up, you’re behind schedule!” Severa’s sarcastic voice sounded from outside the tent, making Cynthia drop the note in surprise. She hadn’t even realized she had said that part out loud, nevermind loudly enough for her bridesmaids to hear her from outside. She hastily scrambled out of bed, grabbing the cold cup of tea and gulping it down as fast as she could before throwing on her uniform and meeting the two women outside. Severa was scowling at her, while Lucina just looked…more exasperated than anything else.
“Honestly, Cynthia. Only you could try and sleep through your own wedding after not shutting up about it for a month.” Her sister said wearily. Cynthia stuck her tongue out at the older girl, knowing that it was far from the mature response she should be showing in public - a lesson that she’d never really get the hang of. Lucina just sighed, shaking her head with a small smile on her face. “Brat.”
“Bitch.” Cynthia replied without missing a beat, before clapping her hands together with a smile. “Alright! So, where are we going to get me dressed up? You two insisted on doing all the planning with Mother, I’ve got no clue what I’m doing.”
“We did all the planning because if you did it you’d try and get into your wedding dress by diving towards it from out of a tree or something.” Severa grumbled. Cynthia did not deny it. “Look, just…follow me, okay? I’ve got it under control.”
“If you say so.” Cynthia shrugged, stepping into pace behind the two girls as they wandered off. A few moments later she couldn’t contain herself any longer, letting out a squeal of glee and pulling both of them into a one-armed hug. “I’m getting married!”
“We know! Stop hugging us! Gawds, please tell me you’re not going to be like this all day…”
