Many people with disabilities will miss out on economic stimulus payments because they are counted as someone else's dependent, but that could change under a proposal in Congress.
Congress is considering a new proposal that would change how individuals with disabilities and their families receive economic relief money. Many individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are claimed as dependents by their families. This proposal calls for the cash payments to be extended to dependents with disabilities of all ages which means more access to resources for the entire family unit.
