deku stands there stiffly, only barely able to answer his trainer’s call. he can’t help but stare in awe at the massive pokemon as he struggles to come up with a reply.

“uhh,” he starts very intellectually. “i’m, uh. i’m deku. are... are you a god? p-please forgive my ignorance, i’m only familiar with kami- er, depictions of kami, that is...”

“i have not met others like me, so i wouldn’t be able to tell you for sure,” deku admits before he goes quiet. his eyes are cold and distant.

“i’m certain the bond i share with my trainer is what helped me evolve. if it weren’t for them, i may not be here right now.” ruffling his feathers, deku sinks further into his leaf shawl. it doesn’t seem like he wants to continue talking about this subject.
