Our Future Dentists
“A Fun Place to come for a Field Trip”
January 22, 2011
On the morning of January 21, 2011, our office was bursting with excitement as a group of 17 first graders, six parent chaperones and one amazing teacher, Mrs. Robinson, gathered in our lobby ready for a field trip and lesson in dentistry. These future dentists could hardly wait to take a tour through the office. For the past several years, Mrs. Robinson has brought her class to our office to learn about the dentist, how important oral hygiene is and to familiarize her students with the dentist so they will not have fear. We teach the children how going to the dentist is not scary, does not hurt and can be fun. We started off the tour with a cartoon of a funny dinosaur and his family. This informational cartoon teaches the children good nutrition, injury prevention and the proper way to brush and floss in order to maintain good oral hygiene. After the cartoon, we answered questions the students had, led them on a tour of the office and then explained what they can expect when they visit the dentist. We then took a picture of each student and the inside of their mouth, all while doing a quick dental screening. At the conclusion of the tour the students received the picture we took of them and all in attendance received a special gift from the doctor. Several years ago, all three of my now college-aged children attended Del Rosa Christian School from kindergarten through 6th grade. DRCS gave our children the tools, both academically and morally, to help ensure a successful future. My wife and I are very thankful for DRCS and for Mrs. Robinson- who remembered my children even though it has been about 14 years! After she admitted remembering my kids, I thought and said, “Is that a good thing or bad?” Mrs. Robinson laughed! VIVA DEL ROSA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL!
