          he’d been putting money away for a while now,       whatever little chunks of his paycheck that he didn’t need to allocate to necessities. of course, he loved when she stopped by the choir room after school and played for the club, or just sat at the piano and played while finn did some paperwork in the corner. but that shouldn’t have had to be her only chance to do it; he remembered hearing her play for the first time in high school and being so impressed that much of their subsequent glee projects became just excuses for him to get to to listen to her again. fleur was so good at it. he didn’t know much about piano-playing, and especially not classical or instrumental music, but everything he’d ever heard her do had been beautiful, had certainly only made him fall in love with her more, made his heart skip a beat, made him think she was an even more extraordinary woman. he could pull some tupperware or glasses from the cabinets in the kitchen, grab some pencils, and bang around on a makeshift drum set. a piano was not quite so easily recreated, and fleur deserved a real one, anyways. a real, nice one that fit in the place they shared, that he could put by a window for her so she could get some good light and a nice atmosphere and some space to herself to play whenever she wanted. finn had scheduled the delivery for a day when he knew he could be home before her and have it waiting for her when she walked in the door, a day off from glee rehearsal when he could run home pretty soon after the final bell and have a decent window of time to get things settled.

          hearing her car pull into the driveway,       finn eager stood from the couch to greet her by the door, not uncommon but certainly done with much more energy and excited nerves than usual. he opened the door for her and leaned in for a quick kiss, though instead of stepping aside to shut it behind her, he extended a hand for her to take, still standing in front of her. he was grinning widely, buzzing with anticipation. “there’s a surprise for you.”

         smile immediately dimpled his cheeks,       gaze at her warm and absolutely adoring. intimate gestures never failed to elicit such a reaction, making him practically glow from within, but when they were unexpected, his cheeks never failed to get a slightly pink tinge. smiling sheepishly, he looked to her and placed a hand on her knee to give it an affectionate little squeeze. “what was that for, hmm?”

          ❛  ---  does  your  school  back  in  france  have  a  show  choir  too?  ❜   he’s  not  too  well - versed  on  the  happenings  or  norms  in  other  countries.   at  least  not  into  the  specifics  of  what  clubs  and  extracurriculars  they  might  have,  though  he  can’t  imagine  it  to  be  too  entirely  different.   ❛  kurt’s  told  me  you’re  practically  a  natural.  ❜

he  would  be  LYING  if  he  said  he  hadn’t  noticed  her  immediately  as  she  entered  the  room.  interesting  enough  as  she  isn’t  really  his  usual  type  ,  but  it  doesn’t  take  long  for  the  dots  to  connect  :  𝒗𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒂   ,  of  course.

long  strides  cross  the  room  quickly  and  his  tall  form  sits  in  front  of  her  at  the  table  ,  NONCHALANT  as  always.  (  he  swears  he  hears  protests  from  a  group  of  fourth  years  as  he  blocks  their  view  of  the  french  beauty  queen )

FLEUR  &  GABRIELLE  DELACOUR    :    feat   @delacoer  ♡

fleur  and  gabrielle  in  france  during  the  summer  of  1994.    it  was  taken  just  before  the  school  year  where  fleur  was  chosen  to  represent  beauxbatons  academy  of  magic  in  the  triwizard  tournament  held  at  hogwarts  school  of  witchcraft  and  wizardry  .

          “i mean, it’s ... it’s incredible.”       he couldn’t help laughing a little as he spoke, a little chuckle exhaled in awe and amazement. and it was           the only time finn had ever been out of the united states before was when he and his mom and his grandparents had taken a trip to niagara falls for a few days when he was in fifth grade, and france felt like a totally different world. but most importantly, it was where fleur was from, where she’d grown up, where she felt most connected ... and that was what really made it special for him. spending time with her in her home, seeing her in her element, getting to experience all the things and see all the places she’d told him about before, it was all pretty special. sitting here across from her, sharing a meal at a little table adjacent to the parisian sidewalk, felt pretty far removed from reality. “i can’t believe i’m really here. y’know? and i really can’t believe how awesome all the food is. you really weren’t kidding.”

          “i don’t think anyone would notice.”       eyes darted quickly around the great hall; it was crowded and boisterous and everyone was well wrapped up in their own conversations           and none of them included finn and fleur, who had been talking all on their own in close proximity. mischievous smile quirked up the corners of his lips, and he was already shifting to slide off the bench and slip away undetected. “plus, it’s dark out. no one’s gonna be hanging out in the gardens.”
