@delamuertes / john constantine If one were to ask Constantine where he found such a rare tome, one that actually seems to have been forgotten to history. Or at least the general public, he'd tell them a little birdie found it. In reality he conned his way into the Vatican Archives (again) to steal a very rare and one of a kind "Gospel of Croft". How genuine this old tome is or whether it's just something cooked up in the 1100s to make money he doesn't know, nor care. John just knows Lara will be delighted with it regardless. Having convinced Ellie to wrap the thing and make it look damn well like Father Christmas himself wrapped it, the thing itself now in an all too large department store bag he holds up for the archaeologist. "What'd you think? I'd forget? Happy birthday and V-day love."
It was Lara’s birthday! (2/14)
The gift is extravagantly wrapped and bagged, but Lara doesn’t believe for one moment that he got her anything from a department store. It’s just not his style. Sure enough, when she accepts the bag and starts to open it, it’s nothing someone would find on an every day shelf.
The tome is thick and begs to be read, she can already see hours of her life sunk into reading this, and the excitement to do so is evident on her face. But instead she looks at John and places her hand on the lapel of his jacket, smoothing its rumpled creases over. “The thought never crossed my mind.” Her hand curled around the material and then pulled him toward her for a kiss. “I have a present for you too,” she murmured. “Something in the bedroom.”
