The video of a young fellow beating a lady inside a Delhi office, was posted online by his friend. It is disturbing that Home Minister Rajnath Singh today ordered the police chief to make a move.
Rohit Singh Tomar, the son of a Delhi cop, has been arrested. In the video, he is seen dragging the lady around by her hair, throwing her to the ground, kicking her, slapping her and using his knees.
The man taping the act is heard saying: "Rohit, stop it...Enough!" But neither this friend nor any other person physically stops him.
The recording, believed to have been from a private office in Delhi's Uttam Nagar on September 2, has been broadly shared on Twitter. The lady today filed an attack complaint with the police.
"The video of a girl being severely beaten by a young fellow has came ot my knowledge. I have addressed the Delhi Police Commissioner (Amulya Patnaik) on the phone and asked that he make an action," the Home Minister tweeted.
Nobody revealed the episode to the police until yesterday, when a women who is not in the video recorded a complaint and asserted that she was the fiancee of the attacker.
The lady told the police that she had cancelled her wedding after watching her fiancee thrashing a lady in the video. She likewise asserted that the man was hitting an associate in his office.
Today, the lady in the video came to police station and, in a written statement, charged that Rohit Tomar had called her to his friend's office and attacked her. He began beating her when she threatened to go to the police, she has said.
