man. being in social services is really like, you'll see people and families in some of the worst situations you've ever seen. you'll journey with a family for months and see them repeatedly get knocked back by a new disaster after barely picking themselves back up from the previous one. you'll have moments where your heart wants to give more but the system doesn't let you. and you want to scream and cry and rage, and none of those are wrong. but despite it all you still gotta get yourself a little treat and watch your silly videos and think about the character and go out on the town with your coworkers/friends, not bc you don't care but bc you have to refill your cup so you can pour into others. you can't serve if you're falling apart at the seams yourself. and you can have your moments but you cannot, CANNOT, let the cynicism get to you and consume you. you have to believe in the family's resilience bc you might very well be the only one believing in them
