With this simple homemade copycat recipe, you can enjoy the classic and irresistible taste of Pepperidge Farm's Milano cookies. These delicate and buttery cookies with rich chocolate filling are ideal for any occasion.
Ingredients: 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened. 1/2 cup powdered sugar. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 325F 165C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and mix until well combined. Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt to the mixture, stirring until a smooth dough forms. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a small round tip. Pipe 2-inch-long strips of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each strip. Bake the cookies for about 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheet. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semisweet chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until smooth. Take one cookie and spread a thin layer of melted chocolate on the flat side, then sandwich it with another cookie to form a Milano cookie. Repeat the process with the rest of the cookies. Allow the chocolate to set completely before serving.
