How to pick up Miorine.

Episode 12 spoilers (no blood)

There's poetic irony in how Delling Rembran, a veteran who uses his (understandable) fear of how Gundam mobile suit development would inevitably lead to his fellow soldiers being treated as replaceable parts of a machine (moreso than they already are at least) to justify committing atrocities, is confronted with the fact that as CEO, for all the wealth and power the position offers him, he is ultimately just as much of replaceable cog in the machine of the Benerit Group as he ever was as a soldier.

I know some folks are dissatisfied with him getting sidelined halfway through the show, but I would argue that it was necessary to highlight the fact that G-Witch's 'main villain', following in the footsteps of both several other Mobile Suit Gundam series and Kunihiko Ikuhara's post-Sailor Moon work, is the systemic evil of the Benerit Group as a whole, rather than any individual human actor. After all, what better indicator of a machine that runs on dehumanizing ideology than one that continues to operate its evil after its own creator is deemed obsolete?

In the end, I do wonder, did Delling scorn his daughter for destroying his life's work and proving just how vain and hollow all his rationalizations for his sins were, or was he actually proud of her for doing what he could not, for finding an alternative to the bloodstained prison of 'necessary' evil he would have condemned her to had he succeeded in his goals?

Delling and miorine! Shitty alicorn dad and his neglected technically alicorn daughter

Delling is a dictorial alicorn who uses his magic and political power to intimidate those around him, including his own daughter whom he placed a spell on to keep her from growing her wings unless he says so. The spell also dampens miorines magical abilities and limits her to simple levitation spells and sparks to make her as helpless as possible. Despite all this miorine constantly tries to resist him and researches the hell out of magic and spells so she can break the spell and finally be free. Her special talent is gardening and her cutie mark is a tomato, in honor of her mother, shes often made fun of for this because as an “alicorn” having such an “undignified” cutiemark is considered embarrassing among elites

Throughout the au shes fixated on breaking the spell purely so that she can get her wings and magic and fly away from everyone whilst having the means to defend herself. Spoiler alert, in the end she does end up breaking the spell but gives up any chances of having wings so she can live a normal life with suletta. also being an alicorn means she’d out live the love of her life and she wasn’t too happy about that prospect so it was an easy decision for her lol.

honestly, i think it's a shame there wasn't a single scene with suletta interacting with delling.

not because they might get along, but i really wanted a scene of suletta going off on delling for being a shitty dad. In her own brutally honest and sincere way.

we got scenes with miorine confronting prospera's actions as a parent. it's only fair delling gets that too
