Former College basketball player Walt McGrary Dies at 24 Years Old Following Battle with Cancer
Walt McGrory, a former University of Wisconsin-Madison basketball player, died at the age of 24 following a two-year struggle with bone cancer. McGrory, who believed in a higher force, detailed his journey on Instagram and stayed optimistic throughout the ordeal. Despite aspirations to continue playing basketball and earn an MBA, his health deteriorated. He was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer that normally affects children. McGrory received a variety of therapies, including chemotherapy and surgery, and had a piece of his leg amputated. Unfortunately, the cancer progressed to his lungs, necessitating additional procedures. Throughout his fight, McGrory never gave up hope and continued to inspire and assist others. Wisconsin coach Greg Gard praised McGrory's grit and determination, citing him as an inspiration to both the squad and the Badger family. McGrory's mission to help others remains unshakeable, and he is now thought to have the support of the universe behind him. His legacy serves as a lesson to open our hearts and seek strength in difficult times.
