This is why I love my radial arm saw!!! Making the back relief cut for some door casing only takes minutes! No fancy jig on the table saw and no big honkin' bit for the router or shaper. Just set the saw on an appropriate miter, raise the blade to get the desired depth of cut, and run it thru. Got the Delta 30-C cleaned, lubed, and adjusted. I have tentatively parked it where my Craftsman 10" was. Plans are to build a long bench here to house this saw and my Craftsman 12" RAS, but for now it works like this. Also did a little work to the bonus prize I picked up with the Delta RAS, a Craftsman King-Seeley shaper. Mostly complete and on an original stand, it's missing the belt guard and the dust collection shute. It runs great and a little more cleaning, lubing, and adjusting and it will be ready to go. So, instead of removing the blades from the Delta 654 jointer I did a little tune-up on them in place. They weren't chipped or dulled enough to warrant regrinding them. So I pulled out a small piece of oil-stone and went to work on them. After honing them back to a sharp edge I did a few test cuts. The results were quite impressive! Even with the squirrelly grain at its end this piece came out glass smooth! Some before and after of the table cleanups on the Delta/Milwaukee 1164 Combo machine. Cleaned the tables, checked for flatness, cleaned and lubricated all ways, screws, and adjustments. Then I checked and adjusted squareness and parallel on the saw and jointer. Made one small fence adjustment and she is back in business! The cast iron on these old machines is really high quality.
