In 1990, I pledged an oath. I made a promise. I was elected President of Delta Zeta Sorority by my fellow sisters and said these words: "To the World, I Promise Temperance and Insight and Courage; To Crusade for justice, To seek the truth and defend it always; To those whom my life may touch in slight measure, May I give graciously of what is mine; To my friends, Understanding and appreciation; To those closer ones a love that is ever steadfast; To my mind, Growth; To myself, Faith; That I may walk truly In the light of the Flame." That promise became the foundation of my principles and values from that moment forward. Today, 30 years later, I received my President's ring. I love it! The flaming roman lamp with two Greek letters, Delta Zeta, in gold sit on top of a sparkling pink sapphire. And yes, although I'm over a half century old, you'll still find me leaning on my sisters, chit chatting with them, with a turtle somewhere on or around me and am an advocate for people with special needs, especially the deaf. 🤟 *and now you're starting to put the pieces together about why I do what I do huh :) #DeltaZeta #president #sororitylife #AlumniSpotlight #thetaomicron #panamericanuniversity #utrgv #DZlegacy https://www.instagram.com/p/CX2qTubu3hD/?utm_medium=tumblr
