it’d have to be a different world, and probably a different evelyn. it’s possible something could have happened. if they had met before she had met adam, or if they had met in a place where she had divorced adam and hadn’t known each other previously. but the truth of it is, their relationship probably wouldn’t be any better off than francis and nancy’s current one. and if this were an affair, evelyn would have a lot of guilt surrounding nancy. the truth is, there’s just not a place where this can happen unless adam isn’t a factor into evelyn’s life (an incomplete life), and where it doesn’t end tragically. this was painful for me to type out, hina, and it makes it seem like i hate francis and i don’t want him to be happy, and we know that’s not true, and,

like jason, francis is just kind of in “evelyn’s club”. which means she can’t really love him more than she already does now, even if there are things she wishes he’d change about himself sometimes.

hurting one of her kids? but that’s the short route for ANYONE who wants to ruin a relationship with eve. francis trying to genuinely sleep with evelyn could also do it. or at least… it’d take a while of evelyn not talking to him and sorting herself out before things could go back to normal. and not that it’s currently in a realm of possibility, but sleeping with adam and then trying to keep it from her would really do the trick.

i think some of the ways francis mistreats nancy already puts her on edge and get her ready to go off on him sometimes. if he hurt adam in any way, or indicated that he ever looked down on her (evelyn’s really insecure about her impoverished background on top of being a housewife, and especially insecure when it comes to men’s opinions of her) that could…probably set her off as well.

🍃 + a character: What would they have to do to get your muse to be more trusting towards them?

this is hard to answer because i genuinely believe besides adam (which is an up and down thing throughout their relationship), francis is the person she genuinely trusts most. and when evelyn trusts you, she never puts a lot into it, but it is something. evelyn raising her ability to trust in francis more just means she has to work on opening up more, there’s not much he can do beyond what he already has.
