Name: Sophie Phillips

Title: Miss Dewey Beach 

Platform: Women is STEM 

Talent: Piano

Interesting Fact: I've completed two 100-mile bike rides to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I was able to raise over $9,000!

What you are looking most forward to for Miss DE week: I'm most looking forward to bonding with the other contestants. Everyone has been amazing so far, and I can't wait to spend a whole week getting to know them better. 

Women are underrepresented in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. As a scientist and a woman, the unequal distribution of men and women in the classroom, as well as the professional world, frustrates me. I have dedicated my year of service to closing this gap and sparking the interest of young girls. These fields are so important and beyond exciting! The world as a whole will benefit greatly from an increase of women in STEM. 🔬🔭

Meet the #MissDelaware Contestants: Rachel Buckler

Name: Rachel Buckler

Title: Miss Diamond State  Platform: March of Dimes -- Premature Birth 

Talent: Tap Dance

Interesting Fact: Had one of the biggest teams for the March for Babies Delaware, benefiting the March of Dimes! When not out doing appearances as Miss Diamond State, I also enjoy going hunting! 

What are you looking forward to most during Miss DE week: going to legislative hall & Funland!! 

Because I was a premature birth, my work with the March of Dimes is extra special. Having the opportunity to be there for families who are going through some of the hardest times brings so much joy to me. Even if it is just making cards for the families whom have babies in the NICU or donating supplies that the hospital needs, any help is the best help.

Name: Rebecca Gasperetti

Title: Miss Wilmington

Platform: Homelessness Awareness and Prevention

Talent: Classical Voice

Interesting Fact: I have performed at Carnegie Hall 

What you are looking most forward to for Miss DE week: I am looking forward to hanging out with my sister queens and making appearances together prior to competition.

Please join me for an amazing fundraiser event on May 13th in the Perkins Rodney room at the University of Delaware! We will be supporting and raising money for two amazing causes: The Children's Miracle Network and the Memorial Fund for Corporal Stephen Ballard. Please come out and join us as we dance for a great cause!
