I don't know if you've added Actor to the Demon Hunter au yet but imagine him as a powerful demon that Dark and Wilford killed while they were still hunting together, only they didn't actually kill him and his been spending the years in the shadows, gaining strength back and planning the perfect revenge against the hunters who were so close to killing him.

If so, you could make Actor start out as a great and very successful hunter. Everyone adored him, but he felt like he needed more, like he wasn’t powerful enough, so he done something (like maybe a spell or made a potion or something like that) to make him stronger.
It worked for a little while until he started gaining demon features and powers, like maybe he wasn’t worried about it until after he gain a tail. He was worried but then he realized he would get so much power from being a demon, so he let it happen, and that is how he came to be.
