"I think Gluttony gave people the wrong idea about demons. Why would I want to eat a perfectly good soul? When I take yours, you become my property, to own for eternity, and to do anything I want with, in this life and the next. That sounds much more filling than a momentary craving."
Of course, he could always go back on that, if it isn't as entertaining as he wants. So keeping him happy is a good idea for those he claims. He says it all like it's entirely normal, but for mortals it's a matter of eternal pleasure/damnation versus any semblance of free will.
