Your Hiding Spot is too Good In Hide and Seek
The circus loses you while playing hide and seek, they genuinely can’t find you.
Warning!! A little bit of angst with their panic in not finding you.
There are a few rules of playing hide and seek in the circus.
1. You HAVE to stay in the circus, no exceptions.
2. Keep your whistle on you at all times, in case of danger you can blow into the whistle, alerting everyone of your location so they can come save you. (You won't need to use it.)
3. After 30 minutes you must come out of your hiding spot. (spoiler alert, you break this rule.)
“Pierrot?” You poke your head into the kitchen, hoping to find Pierrot. Thankfully you do, he is making [[your favorite food]].
“My dear, is there anything wrong?” Pierrot asks, turning his attention away from the dish.
“No, nothing wrong.” You reassure him, walking up beside him. “I would like to play something with you.”
“My love!!! I’d love to play any game with you!” He turns all of attention to you now, forgetting about the food. He’s so excited to be able to play a game with his perfect love.
“Can we play hide and seek?” You wrap your arms around his waist, resting your chin on his lower chest. You stare up at him with puppy dog eyes, trying to convince him to play with you.
“Hide and seek?” He thinks for a moment, overthinking how it would go. He worries that you get hurt, or worse, kidnapped! He slowly rests his hands on your back to reassure himself that you are still here, not the [[name]] that got stolen from him in his mind. “I’m worried for your safety, my dear.”
“Pierrot, look,” You pull a red, black, and gold whistle out of your pocket. “I got a whistle to immediately call for you if I need help in any way, shape, or form.”
He’s still a little unsure, but seeing that HIS love has a whistle in HIS colors to call for HIM if they get hurt? Dream come true.
“Did you ask Jester first?” He needs to check before accepting to play with you.
“I did, I made sure to ask him before I did anything.”
“Okay, we can play, which would you like to do first, my love?” He puts a hand on your head and gently pets your hair.
“I would like to hide.” You pull away, ready to go hide. “Count to 60, please!”
He complies immediately, turning around, covering his eyes, and starting to count to 60.
You sprint away, you’ve had your eye on a certain spot to hide in.
You climb up the side of the ticket booth and hide on the roof. You, of course, asked before you went to ask Pierrot to play with you. This is Ticket Taker’s space after all, and you don't want to get on his bad side. You asked both Ticket Taker and Jester if it was alright to hide there, they both surprisingly allowed you to hide up here.
You lay on your stomach to be as hidden as possible. He won’t be able to see you from the ground, he’ll have to climb up the ticket booth to find you.
You can hear Pierrot walking around the circus, looking for you. His footsteps are quick, trying to find you quickly.
He checks all of the tents, the inside and outside. He checks every single spot of every single tent, checking in with the others to make sure they aren’t hiding you from him.
You can hear his footsteps slow before stopping. His breathing picks up, silently starting to panic. He hasn’t been able to find you in all the spots he thought you would go.
His footsteps start up again, running to the ticket booth. Your heart starts beating hard in your chest, you try to keep your breathing quiet. You don’t want Pierrot to hear and find you.
He checks in the ticket booth, you're not there.
The 30 minute timer goes off, he lets out a relieved breath, hoping to see you come out of your hiding spot.
“Did they….?” You can hear Pierrot whisper, worrying about you possibly leaving the circus while he was counting or looking for you.
He grabs into his hair and tugs it, trying to distract himself from the thought and the fact that his heart is starting to break.
He turns around to go look for you at the food stalls. Maybe he missed you when he walked by, and didn't notice you when he checked there before.
He rechecks everything and everyone. He checks the tents, food stalls, booths, trash bins, fucking everywhere.
Yet, he never checks the roof of the ticket booth.
When he comes back to the ticket booth to check it again, you can’t help but start giggling.
You can hear him abruptly stop, before slowly walking out of the ticket booth.
You sit up and lean over the side of the roof, staring down at Pierrot’s surprised face with a cheeky grin.
You feel a bit bad, but his cute face makes you feel not so bad.
“M- My love!” He exclaims, his face turning red at seeing you smiling all pretty. He is so relieved to have finally found his love.
“Sorry, Pierrot…” You apologize, climbing down from the roof of the ticket booth.
Pierrot’s hands settle on your waist to support you as you climb down.
The second your feet hit the ground, Pierrot pulls you into his arms and kisses your face all over. Tears quietly fall from his eyes, he was so worried, he thought you left him.
“Harlequin!” You call out as you enter his tent, wanting to play hide and seek with him. You pause halfway into his tent, confused.
Usually he’ll come straight to you, but he doesn’t. Maybe he isn’t in his tent? You should maybe go look for him somewhere else? When you turn around to go look for him, a hand grabs your shoulder.
You shriek, jumping out of your skin.
Harlequin laughs. He wraps his arms around your middle, pulling you to his chest.
“Need me, dddeeeaaarrrrrr ooonnnnneeeeee ~ ♡ (dear one ~ ♡)” He elongates ‘dear one’ because he knows it annoys you.
“I want to play hide and seek with you.” You push on his chest to get him off you.
“Hide and seek..?” He asks, a little confused on why you're asking him and not Pierrot. “Why would I want to play that?”
“Why not? It’s just a simple game.”
He doesn’t look convinced.
“It’ll really piss off Pierrot.” You mutter, starting to walk away, planning on leaving. “But, it's your choice, I guess.”
He grabs your hand, pulling you back to him.
“I’ll play, I want to piss off Pierrot.” He grins, loving the idea of seeing Pierrot’s upset face when he realizes you come to Harlequin instead of him.
“Thank you.” You cross your arms, turning around to look up at him. “It would’ve been a shame if my begging to Jester went to waste.”
“You begged to Jester.. To play a children's game.. With me..?!” Harlequin bursts in laughter, doubling over from laughing so hard.
You roll your eyes, turning away to hide the grin creeping up onto your face.
“Get to counting, Harlequin.” You glance back at him, waiting for him to turn around to count. “60 seconds before you can come looking for me. Play fair.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” He’s still chuckling as he counts.
You quickly run away. You plan in the one spot he won’t check, the cotton candy booth, the one booth he hates with his soul. (He hates how it smells.)
You sit under the counter, behind the trash can. The only way to see you is by going into the cotton candy stand and looking behind the trash can.
After a few minutes, you can hear his easy steps walking out of his tent.
He walks around to the other tents, checking for you there. He checks inside and outside, and even the tops. He knows you are up to something, so of course he’ll check ridiculous spots that you might go.
When he doesn’t find you there, he pauses for a second. He thinks of where you might have gone, maybe the ticket booth? No, not there. Your favorite food stall? Not there either, that’s odd.
He even checked other food stalls, avoiding the one stall he doesn’t like. He still can’t find you.
Maybe you went to one of the other members? No, he checks all of them and their rooms, not there.
Where the hell did you go?
He stops in front of one of the other food stalls, letting out an annoyed groan. The thirty minute timer goes off, and he looks around for you, trying to spot you coming out of your hiding spot.
He starts to panic, but hides it well, going to his tent to see if you went there. He checks the entire tent, the inside and outside, there aren’t any signs of you there.
He comes out of his tent, his mask of being alright is starting to crack, showing his real emotions. He is annoyed but mostly worried about you.
“Did you leave..?” He whispers to himself, walking past the food stall you are hiding in. He stands by the entrance, trying to figure out where the hell you went.
Harlequin realizes he never checked that one stall that he hates.
He quickly makes his way over to that stall. He moves the trash can and finds you, pulling you up to face him.
“You are so fucking annoying, you know that?” Harlequin looks pissed, but relieved to have found you. He’s a little annoyed at himself for not looking for you there first.
“Heheh, sorry..” You aren’t sorry, this is entertaining to you.
“Pierrot would’ve killed me if I actually lost you.” He shoves you out of the food stall, walking out behind you.
“Maybe, but you found me, so don’t think about it.” You turn around to face him.
“Mh, yeah, sure.” He rolls his eyes, but he signs, relieved that you didn’t get hurt or lost at all.
DO NOT FEED MY WORK TO AI
A/N: I’ve been struggling to write this, but it's fun to write. It’ll take a while to get out the other parts. Sorry if Harlequin isn’t very canon, I don’t really know how to write him as he is a very complicated character. I don’t really know how to write the others, but I’ll try my best!!
