Casey has faith. Devotion. She believes in a higher power and purpose. Her god is Lucifer and though no one has "ever actually seen him" she believes that he will return. She has been committed to the same lover "for centuries." They have been "to hell and back" for each other. She thinks Dean is "all right" and "likable." Unlike other demons, she doesn't see Dean as "weak" or "stupid" for making his deal to save Sam. She can understand why he did it. Other demons might mock him for his heart and need to save people. For caring. But not Casey. She also cares enough about her vessel to not want to see it harmed or damaged. Sure it's partly self-serving but, it's more than most demons would care. She's, as Dean jokes, "a demon with a heart." Her hands are also clean. Besides killing Richie she hasn't done anything to cause any of the murders in town. That was all the people's own doing. All she's responsible for is "nudg[ing] humans in the right direction" with vices. The rest they did themselves.
All of this in turn makes her likable, IMO. And Casey presents an interesting contrast to Ruby's hamfisted approach in getting Sam on-side and Ruby's clear manipulation tactics. Casey just...has a very frank conversation with Dean. And in the end Dean doesn't necessarily trust her, but he is willing to spare her. When Sam comes in guns a-blazing and take out the priest with the Colt Dean tells Sam to wait when he aims at Casey.
Anyways, some of Casey's traits also remind me of Cas (here's another post comparing and contrasting them). Esp early seasons Cas. That belief in an unseen God. Mission-focused. The ability to be utterly devoted to a partner. He went to hell and back for Dean (and they will both continue to do so for 12 yrs). Quickly warming up to Dean. Not seeing him as weak or stupid for doing the Right Thing and caring about the whole world. Being an angel with a heart, different from all the rest in Dean's eyes, unlike the rest of the angels who are dicks.
Wish we'd gotten to see more of Casey in s3. I enjoyed her dynamics with Dean and I feel like she could've been a good contrast to Ruby throughout the season.

Why has Dean had a connection to at least three different people with "Cas" in their name? Cassie, Casey, Castiel.
The school system just doesn’t teach kids enough memory skills.
