Demonology Warlock: Best use of Demonic Fury?

What is the most effective way for a Demonology Warlock to spend Demonic Fury?

Should I go into meta at about 900 Fury, cast doom and a few spells and then exit once i'm at 750? What about the rest of the fury? Please explain to me how it all works..?

There are two tests that need to be conducted when considering how to best manage your Demonic Fury. First, we need to test at what amount of Demonic Fury you should exit Metamorphosis. Second, we need to run the same tests again, but with accommodations made to save Demonic Fury for Dark Soul: Knowledge.

We ran both sets of tests using T14N gear in SimulationCraft 505-1. All tests were conducted with Harvest Life, Grimoire of Service, and Archimonde's Vengeance as the other DPS talents.

This first round of tests ignores Dark Soul: Knowledge. This is just a test of when to stop consuming Demonic Fury and revert to caster form.

Exiting Metamorphosis at various amounts of Demonic Fury. Metamorphosis is entered at >= 900 Demonic Fury.

Demonic Fury to 50: 97280 DPS

Demonic Fury to 250: 97116 DPS

Demonic Fury to 500: 96852 DPS

Demonic Fury to 750: 96208 DPS

Based on these numbers, you should always burn through your entire Demonic Fury bar. However, these tests ignore the impact of Dark Soul: Knowledge on your DPS while in Metamorphosis form.

This round of tests cancels Metamorphosis at various amounts of Demonic Fury, except for when Dark Soul: Knowledge is present. Metamorphosis is entered at >= 900 Demonic Fury.

Demonic Fury to 50: 97291 DPS

Demonic Fury to 250: 97337 DPS

Demonic Fury to 500: 99255 DPS

Demonic Fury to 750: 99471 DPS

Based on the current simulators, you should exit Metamorphosis at 750 Demonic Fury unless Dark Soul: Knowledge is present. If Dark Soul: Knowledge is up, stay in Metamorphosis until the buff drops. This is a DPS increase because saving 750 Demonic Fury allows you to always have enough Demonic Fury to last through the entire duration of Dark Soul: Knowledge when it is available. This is the strategy used in Noxxic's Demonology DPS rotation.
