Rabbits and Hats

It had been about three hours since Zee had left when he notices the little white shadow hopping after him. Curious eyes and a twitching nose, ears pricked forward as the little white rabbit stand up on her hind legs to look at him. Jason can’t tell the animals apart the way Zatanna does. All he ever remembers is that two are troublemakers and one follows the other two whenever possible.
With an armful of white fur happily curled against his chest, Jason calls Zee to come pick up her little friends. It will be a few hours, she has a show starting soon, but she’ll be by again before morning to get her missing stage assistants. The show won’t suffer for being short two or three, and could he please keep an eye on them in the meantime?
Jason hangs up with a sigh. Thinks about it only for a minute, and then dials another familiar number.
“Hello, Miss Faekay?” Jason begins the moment the line picks up. “I wonder if you have time to make a short run for me, no nothing urgent, just a quick grocery stop.”
Jason lists off a handful of things, including dandelion greens, kale, spinach, and butter lettuce. A handful of fresh herbs also make the list, fairly easy to remember he hopes, and he again assures her it isn’t strictly urgent but if she could manage within the hour, he’d be grateful.
Downstairs in the parlour with the one rabbit, Jason hear the soft flop of a second one following after him. Shortly, he ends up with three little white rabbits occasionally vying for space in his lap. Thankfully, no more turn up out of the shadows of his home and he wonders how they had both missed the escapees. “She is going to be rather cross with you all.” He murmurs, stroking at the soft little animals that butt up against him.
