How many lifetimes had passed from then until now? Lunafreya opened her eyes from the void of sleep, shaking her head. She knew her soulmate was out there somewhere; a feeling swollen like a giant balloon rested in her chest, ready to burst. As Oracle of Eos she would be wed soon to some nobleman or Prince of an exotic land, but such didn’t sit right with her.
It was that day, speaking in front of the crowd that Luna saw her. A beautiful slightly younger-looking woman among the throngs of people. The Oracle’s heart skipped a beat, and she stumbled over her words. Righting herself, she managed to finish up the speech without too much of a hitch. She was just about to walk away to find out more about the stranger when she added to her words.
“Please excuse me…I must speak with one of you personally.”
Stepping down from the podium, Lunafreya made her way to the brunette, the crowd splitting apart to form a pathway for her to walk.
Sweet gods above was this stranger beautiful. Luna felt a pang of hurt in her chest, grasping for it as she came nearer. Fighting the pangs, she eventually came face to face with the girl.
“Blessings be upon you.” Lunafreya smiled. She could feel her cheeks being stretched beyond their usual limits. “I…I believe we know each other, though not from this life. Long have I dreamed of finding you.” Taking Iris’s hands in hers, Luna closed her eyes, their hands both beginning to glow, bathed in light.
“Ghhh!!!” Luna’s eyes widened suddenly as she cried out in pain. Her head was spinning in a tormenting dance.
“Lady Lunafreya!” Somebody shouted out as gasps resonated through the crowd.
“Do you believe in the gods’ will?” Luna asked the stranger through the wracking pains. “Because I believe I have finally found…you…” She stated before collapsing, the light fading from her eyes.
