Okay I'm waaaaay behind on posting where I'm at on tactics ogre but. Deneb's recruitment is SENDING me. Like I can't even fully illustrate how funny it is because half of the humor is just that it's coming smack in the middle of a game with the tonal equivalent of a dramatized wwii documentary, but the whole thing is just. so so funny. Denam and Deneb both separately thinking about what a weirdo the other is. Deneb being a shitty union-busting retail manager. Deneb repeatedly flirting with Denam and Denam repeatedly making hard changes in subject. Denam's "I'm starting to feel bad for the pumpkins......" They're everything to me

Deneb might just be the character who takes biting the dust the most nonchalantly... perhaps because she's too cool to actually die.

March of the Black Queen connoisseurs will know that Deneb is a Xenobian war criminal who terrorized the lands she occupied and turned young men into apt pumpkin servants for fun, and for free labor (girlboss!).

Deneb can flirt her way out of not getting executed for her crimes by heart emoji-ing the opinion leader/player (it worked on me). But it's likely she wouldn't die either way because... Another well-known fun-fact about Deneb is that she robs young women of their bodies to preserve her good health and go on living as a really cute youthful witch (again... girlboss!). Tactics Ogre does allude to it, in a completely optional scene, but in case you missed it, her final words in Chapter 4 pretty much confirm it (it might be the closest we get to Deneb confessing to the deed).

Also, her CODA quote is peak Deneb and I love it.
