"Toru?" Your voice is raspy, barely above a whisper.
You’ve been watching him silently for a few minutes, contemplating on whether or not you wanted to interrupt his train of thoughts.
Blinking like he just came out of a trance, he hesitatingly turned towards you with a wobbly lip and tears in his eyes.
“Baby-” You try to reach over to him and comfort him, pausing when he stumbles backwards.
“I‘m s- ‘m sorry.” He lets out an exhale, breath shaky as he runs his hands through his hair.
Feeling uneasy, you take a moment to breathe and decide to take a step towards him, ignoring how he shuffles away for a moment before he forces himself to stay still.
“Hey, it’s okay.” You grab his arm, tugging him towards the seats 2 feet away from you.
After sitting him down, you wrap your arms around his shoulders playing with the hair at the nape of his neck before gently laying his head on your chest.
Running your right hand through his hair, you begin humming your favorite song. He raises his arms to wrap them around your waist, humming along with you as you begin swaying back and forth.
“Christmas without you would just not be Christmas at all.” You murmur, laying your cheek on his head.
He stiffens in your arms, barely pulling away before tightening his grip on you.
“I’m sorry.”
“We’re gonna be okay.” You mumble into his hair, kissing his forehead when his grip tightens once more, “We’re gonna be okay. Promise.”
“I’m sorry.” He holds you close for a few more minutes without saying anything, getting up when he heard his flight was ready to board.
“I love you.” He whispered, brushing his lips against yours gently.
“I love you, too.” You smiled sadly, kissing him quickly.
“I can’t ask you to follow me and leave your family in a few years, or wait around for a phone call in case I have a few minutes to spare.” He moves to grab his bag, causing you to stumble backwards slightly in shock at his words.
“What are you saying?” You choked out with a strained voice, reaching for him as he began walking away.
“Toru! Hey, talk to me. What do you mean by that?” You grab his arm, forcing him to turn around people walking by both of you.
“I’m sorry, but we should break up.” His voice was soft, it sounded as if he was on the edge of crying.
“Wha- why?”
“Goodbye, love.” He whispered, kissing your cheek after giving you one last hug.
“No.” You reached out to grab him once more, failing to grasp him as your fingertips grazed his sweater.
“Please, don’t do this.” You whisper, tears falling as you watch him walk away and board his plane.
“Don’t leave me.”

Stolen kisses and hushed, gentle words full of affection between classes was nothing new to you.
It became a daily routine to get to school early and enjoy the peace and quiet together before you were forced to go to class and pretend that you two were nothing more than peers.
You were content with running around early in the morning, sneaking into the school garden where no one could see you. You were content hiding your relationship from your friends, not wanting to hear their teasing every time you were around one another.
You didn’t want to have to answer their questions on why out of everyone, you chose him.
“Not that there is anything wrong with Bakugou, so to say, but...” Ochako trailed off, biting her lip and thinking of a way to say her thoughts without hurting you.
“Don’t worry about it Ochako, I was just thinking out loud. A bit more joking than serious.” You chuckle softly, playing with your shirt as you avoided eye contact with both of your friends.
“Hello? Anyone there?” Suddenly a pink hand starts waving in front of your face, startling you.
“Huh?” You looked around to see Mina standing at your desk, a worried expression painting her face. “Oh, sorry. I must’ve spaced out a couple minutes before class ended.”
You collect your things, making sure everything was where it was supposed to be before pulling your backpack strap over your shoulder.
“Trying to make sure no one sees those secret pictures of yours?” Mina teases as you walk towards the rest of your friends who were waiting for you at the door.
You silently scold yourself for not hiding the pictures you took this morning better.
“Did I hear something about secret pictures?” Kaminari smirks, wiggling his eyebrows at you. You just shake your head laughing, walking behind everyone with him and Mina by your side.
“Not even in your dreams, Jammingway.” You push him softly, causing him to stumble and nearly fall on his face.
“So they are special photos.” Mina teases, copying Kaminari’s facial expression.
“No!” You blush, stumbling over your feet. “Not like that! They’re just pictures I’d rather not show to anyone else because...”
“Because they’re of your boyfriend.” She teases you again, laughing at your flustered state. You bump into someone's back, looking up to see Bakugou had stopped along with Kirishima and Sero. You had arrived at the cafeteria, already in line to receive your food.
Kirishima and Sero join in on teasing you, leaving you to just stand there and stare at the floor.
If they only knew.
______________
“Please! Just a couple. I promise no one will see them.” You beg him once more, smiling when he gives a slight nod.
The first picture you take is just of you two holding hands, yours on top of his as your fingers are intertwined.
“Take another one.” He mumbles, a light blush spreading across his cheeks as he looks away while you take another picture of your hands. As you wait for the polaroid pictures to develop, you gently turn his face towards you and place a soft kiss on his lips. He pulled you back, gently taking the camera from you.
The second one was a surprise to you, but you couldn’t help but blush when you heard the click of the camera.
“Katsuki...” You mutter, blushing harder when he pulls you back in for another kiss yet again, taking another picture.
“What?” He grins down at you, the sunrise that was starting to show shining softly on his face. “Isn’t that why you wanted these silly pictures?”
“You want them too! That’s why there’s two sets of both of them.” You take them into your hand, admiring them like they were paintings in a museum.
“These are kinda blurry.” You smile falls, frowning as you show him the blurry pictures he took. “This is why you should’ve left the picture taking to me.”
“Whatever, let me see.” He takes them from your hand, trying not to smile as he appreciates all four pictures. “Well at least if anyone sees them, they won't be able to tell it’s us.”
You silently take the pictures from his grasp, taking out a pen and writing your name on one set of pictures and his on the other.
“Just in-case we ever lose them, people will know who they belong to.” You teased, knowing that these pictures were for your eyes only.
He takes two of the pictures from you and smiles gently, putting them in his wallet.
“Lets go, we don’t want anyone catching us together.” He gets up and holds his hand out to you.
And for a second you consider telling him that you didn’t care if you were caught.
______________
“Pretty please! I promise I won’t tell anyone, I just want to know who makes my best friend so happy.” Mina squeezed your arm, giving you her best puppy dog eyes.
You chuckle, rolling your eyes as you try to take your arm out of her strong hold.
“Mina, please. I already told you I’m not dating anyone!” Your giggle did nothing to convince her, so you looked at the rest of your friends to try and ask them to help you.
“Who wants to do face masks!” Uraraka’s voice flowed through your room as she entered with bags filled with different kinds of face masks, Tsu following with bags of snacks and movies.
You sighed in relief as soon as Mina released your arm, running over to them and taking the bags from Uraraka.
“I do!” You smiled, going through the all the face masks and picking out a sheet mask that was supposed to look like a panda.
Soon enough everyone forgets about the conversation you and Mina were having, choosing to forget about the secret lover their friend insisted didn’t exist.
“Hunger Games!” You yelled at Toru, rolling your eyes when she yelled back at you that she wanted to watch The Notebook.
“But we watched that last time!” You stood up from the couch in the common room, moving to the kitchen when you heard the microwave go off.
“But-”
“Get back here dunce face!” You heard Bakugou’s voice booms throughout the room.
Normally you would laugh at Kaminari’s face that’s full of terror as Bakugou chased after him, but Bakugou’s agitated movements as he reached for the item in Kaminari’s hand made you hold your breath.
“Mina! Mina look!” Kaminari starts waving his hands around, yelping as Bakugou almost grabbed his shirt.
Everyone watches confused as Kaminari runs towards Mina, almost knocking her over as he jumps over the couch, Bakugou right behind him.
Kaminari continues running in circles as Mina walks up to you, blood draining from your face and you recognize what was in her hand.
“W-” Before she could question you, Kaminari bumps into her.
“Did you see it?” He asks breathlessly, whimpering when Bakugou grabs his neck. “Did you see the name on the back?”
Shit.
You’re scolding yourself now, why did you have to write his name on the back? She saw your pictures, she saw the picture of you guys holding hands and this picture is literally the exact same but it has his nam-
“Why does Bakugou your pictures?”
“My pictures?” Maybe if you pretended not to know what she was talking about, she’ll just forget it.
“Yeah, one of them is the same as the one I saw this morining.” You could feel everyone’s curious gaze on you as you refused to look up from the bag of popcorn.
“H-how do you know they’re mine?” Silently cursing to yourself for stuttering, you moved to grab a bowl and empty the popcorn into it. Shit.
“Your name’s on the back.” You glanced up at her, seeing her holding the pictures towards you to show you.
You gently took the pictures in you hands, staring at your name on the back of the pictures.
He accidentally took the ones with my name. But how were you going to explain why Bakugou had them.
Everyone stares at you, knowing that they were of you holding hands with someone thanks to Mina.
At first, they thought it was of you and your boyfriend, but brushed that thought off when you told them it was just a childhood friend. They seemed skeptical at first but seeing as you were a touchy person once you got comfortable with someone, they didn’t see it as odd for you to hold hands with an old friend.
But for Bakugou of all people to have, what Mina -the only person who had actually seen the picture- had claimed to be, the same picture was awfully suspicious.
Maybe it was time we finally told everyone, I’m tired of keeping secrets.
You glance towards Bakugou briefly, ignoring the way his eyes told you not to come clean.
“It’s because-”
“I found the fucking pictures. I was going to give them back, but this idiot went looking through my bag before I could.” He glared at Kaminari before muttering something about killing him if he ever went through his things again, walking away.
Everyone seemed hesitant to believe him, but it made sense.
You and Bakugou could never be in a relationship together, because sure opposites attract but you and Bakugou? You two were too different, it was a miracle that the two of you were friends, but together?
No, that could never happen.
If they only knew.
______________
The first thing you hear the next morning as you sit in the garden at 5:30 am was Bakugou’s voice filled with annoyance.
“I knew we shouldn’t have taken those stupid pictures!”
You roll your eyes as he throws his belongings at his feet.
“They almost found out! All because-” You pick up his stuff and hand it to him, cutting him off with a kiss before he could start rambling, feeling him relax immediately.
“What, would it be so bad if they did?” You mumble against his lips, feeling him freeze before pushing you away gently.
“What are you, stupid? Of course it would have, they never would’ve shut up about it.” You could tell he was only slightly confused, thinking back to how you almost told everyone.
“Don’t be dramatic, they would’ve shut up eventually.”
“What are you saying, you wanna tell everyone?” He looked at you as if you grew two heads out of nowhere, walking further away from you.
“So what if I do? I’m tired of having to keep all these secrets! I want to be able to tell my friends about us instead of making up a childhood friend. I want to be able to hold your hand in public instead of having hide a fucking picture.” You can feel the tears flowing down your face but you ignore them, focusing on his retreating figure.
“I-I can’t, we can’t- .” You’ve never seen Bakugou stumbled over his words as he struggled to speak his mind. He always spoke so confidently, his words never wavering.
He took in a deep, shaky breath as he whispered his next words.
“I don’t think I can give you what you want.”
He walked closer to you until he was right in front of you, holding your hands in his as he spoke softly.
“I can’t- I promised myself, ever since I was younger, that I would be the number one hero. No matter what, I was- am going to be the number one hero.”
“I’m not asking you to quit following your dream. All I’m asking is that we tell our friends. I want to be there, right next to you as you follow your dream, I want everyone to see how much I support you.” You reach your hand up to hold his cheek, pressing a delicate kiss to his forehead.
“You can do that, you can be by my side the whole time. We don’t have to let anyone know.” His voice was desperate as he held on tight to your waist, pulling you on closer.
“I don’t want to have to hide in the shadows.” You murmur, moving your arms to wrap around your neck.
“I can’t have any distractions-” His eyes open in surprise as you push him away, using all you strength to rip his hands from you.
“So what? I’m a distraction? Is that all this is to you?”
“No! But somewhere along the way, you became my top priority and I’m scared that if we tell everyone you’ll become my only priority, especially when we graduate because then any enemy I make will go after you. I can’t have that- I can’t-” He grunted out in frustration, pulling on his hair as he yelled.
“You can’t risk throwing away everything you’ve worked so hard for.” You whisper, hugging yourself tight.
"I can protect myself you know, I don’t need you to worry about me like I’m weak and can’t fend for myself.” You rush out, pacing back and forth until you finally decide to walk up to him.
“I know, but I’ll always worry because I lov-” He stops himself, staring wide-eyed at you.
You shiver, unsure if it’s because of the wind that blowing gently against your skin or if it’s because he almost told you he loved you.
“I love you.” You managed to whisper after a long moment of silence, embracing his face in your hands once more, leaning into him.
“I never understood why you even like me, and now you’re telling me you love me. Why?” You both chuckle, pressing your lips against each other softly.
“I love you because even though you claim to not care about anyone but yourself, you love and care deeply about your friends. You’d fight to the death to protect them, you’d go through hell and back for them.” You kiss away his tears, slightly tasting the saltiness of them on the tip of your tongue.
“I know what the future will hold if we let everyone know, but I don’t care because just like you would go through hell and back for your friends, I would go through hell and back for you. Please, just- say it back and we’ll figure everything out when we get to it, say it back and it’ll be me and you, forever.” You rush out, clinging onto him like your life depended on it.
He reach his hands up to lay on top of yours, leaning down to kiss you one last time.
“You have to understand, what we have… it has to be enough.” He pulls away, already knowing how you would respond.
“What if it’s not?” You cry out, crumbling to the ground at his next words.
“Then it’s over.” He reaches into his bag, trying to hand you the other picture but you refuse to take it.
Dropping the picture in the exact same place it was taken in, he walks away.
______________
“Not that there is anything wrong with Bakugou, so to say, but...” Ochako trailed off, biting her lip and thinking of a way to say her thoughts without hurting you.
“Don’t worry about it Ochako, I was just thinking out loud. A bit more joking than serious.” You chuckle softly, playing with your shirt as you avoided eye contact with both of your friends.
“No! There’s nothing wrong if you like him or anything, it’s just- he-” Ochako stumbled over her words, Tsu finishing what she was trying to say.
“It’s just, Bakugou doesn’t really seem like he would even be interested in a relationship. We don’t want you getting hurt.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t.” You smiled at them, stuffing your face with ice cream.
Summary: “I know, but I can’t help but want to ask him why won’t you love me.”
A/N: I’ve been wanting to write for mha for a while, and I finally got around to doing it!
“Stop fucking ignoring me!” You yell out in frustration towards Shinsou, walking faster when he ignores you yet again.
You feel everyone's eyes on you, following you as you rush after your best friend of 5 years.
“Toshi!” You tug on his sleeve as soon as he’s within reach, blood boiling as he ignores you once more.
Tugging on his shoulder, you force him to stop and look at you for the first time in weeks. He stares down at you with so much resentment that you wince and withdraw your arm back, hugging both arms close to you.
“What.”
His voice was laced with hatred, his eyes glaring at you as you stared back at him.
“Why are you being like this? Why have you been ignoring ever since-”
“What? Ever since you lied to me about being accepted into the hero course? I bet you were laughing about it behind my back with your little friends in the hero course. I bet-”
“Are you fucking serious? Laughing at you? Is that what you think of me? Really? After 5 fucking years of knowing me, you think that I’d start laughing at you the second I get the chance?” You take in a shaky breath, clenching your shaking hands.
“Yes, I lied to you about not getting into the hero course and I’m not proud of that. I wasn’t trying to hurt you, and I realize lying hurt you more and I’m so fucking sorry. But never once did I do anything to laugh at you, ever.”
“Whatever.” He scoffs, rolling his eyes as he turns to walk away. “Like I’d ever believe you again.”
“Why would I laugh at you when you’re the reason I’m even here!” You’re gasping for air, all the emotions overwhelming you to the point where you have to lean against the glass wall.
“Growing up, everyone always told me it’d be hard for me to ever be a hero. They told me a darkness quirk, a quirk that literally only every brought darkness could never be used to help people.” You let out a shaky breath and continue. “But then I met you and I realized that it didn’t matter what everyone thought of me because if I wanted to become a hero I could.”
“So I started working on my quirk, training so I could somehow use it to help others.”
“Don’t you see that without you I never would have found out what I could do with my quirk? Without you I would have never even gotten into the hero course, so please tell me why would I laugh at you for something that you helped me with?”
“Everything I’ve ever done, everything that has happened that lead me up to here, to this moment, it’s all because of you!” You cry out in frustration, knees buckling in and nearly giving out.
He briefly glances back at you, scoffing one more time and then walking away.
Before you can break down, you catch a glimpse of your watch and see that there was 15 minutes left until class started, so you rushed to class.
Walking into class, you try your best to not the tears fall down your face as you rush to your seat near the window.
“H-hey? Are you okay?”
Startled, you jump in your seat and you look up to see Midoriya staring at you worriedly.
“H-huh? Oh yeah! I’m fine.” You smiled at him gently, trying to reassure him you were okay.
“Are you sure? You look like you’re about to cry an-” You cut him off before he could start rambling.
“Midoriya, I promise I’m fine. I’m just a bit tired today so I’m just not myself right now.” You smile at him again, calming him down a bit.
He smiles back at you and slightly nods, sitting down in the seat in-front of you.

“I’m sorry.” You stared up at him, watching as the rain fell behind him and water droplets dripped from his hair.
“Do you really think I would laugh about you behind your back?” A gust of wind caused you to shiver, so you opened the door wider and gestured him to enter.
The only noise you could hear was the rain falling down on the roof and the wind blowing against the windows, desperately trying to enter your home.
You watched as he took off his shoes that were soaked in water, followed by his jacket. When he was done he looked up at you, reaching out for your hand. Before he could touch you, you turned around and headed to your room, he sighed and followed you.
When he entered, you handed him a change of clothes, along with a towel.
“You should shower before you catch a cold.” Your voice was cold and distant despite your words showing that you still cared for him, despite what had happened.
He opened his mouth to speak, to ask you for a chance to talk before doing anything else but you interrupted him.
“Shower first, we can talk after you get out. The rain is going to last a while so there’s no need for you to rush your way out of here unless you want to get drenched again.” Even though you still spoke to him with a cold a distant tone, your eyes told a different story and so he nodded and made his way to your restroom.
After 20 minutes, he came back into your room in a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie, drying his hair with the towel.
You just stared at him, waiting for him to start the conversation you were dreading since you opened the door and saw him.
“I’m sorry.” He breathed out, throwing the towel into your basket for dirty laundry.
You stared at him, waiting for him to answer your question from earlier.
“After the first day of school,” he slowly walked over to sit at your desk, “I saw you walking with a group of people that I could only assume were your classmates. You guys were laughing and joking around and I was a bit jealous you made friends so easily but I started walking up to you anyways. I was hurt you lied to me but I know you and how you think so I got over it quickly.”
“Then wh-”
“Before I could make my presence obvious, I heard someone say my name and then you laughed. For a split second, the thought of you laughing at me because I didn’t get into the hero course crossed my mind. It was only for a second, but in my mind it made sense, in my mind you’ve found new friends and didn’t need me anymore.” His voice cracked.
“Toshi...” You whispered, standing from your bed and rushing towards him. He was looking at his lap, refusing to look at you.
You gently placed your hand under his chin and lifted his head, gasping softly when you saw his tears.
You pulled him up and walked him to your bed, laying down and cuddling him with only the rain and wind as background noise.
After a while, his breathing slowed so you looked up and saw his eyes were closed. He was asleep.
“I’ll always need you Toshi, I love you.”

“I saw you at the entrance exam you know!” Ochako exclaimed, jumping with excitement.
“Really?” You grinned at her, her excitement rubbing off on you.
“Yeah! I know we weren’t in the same mock city, but I saw you walk out with a guy with purple hair!” Iida and Midoriya were silently watching, not wanting to interrupt your conversation.
“You mean Shinsou! My best friend!” You blushed slightly, causing her to squeal.
“You like him don’t you!”
“What? No! Like who?” You smiled nervously, looking away before they could see your red face.
“Shinsou obviously!”
You just laughed, scratching the back of your head.
“I have to go! See you guys tomorrow!” You ran away before she could confront you about your feelings on your best friend.

“Hey, Izuku! Have you seen Hitoshi?” You question your green haired friend, happy to have stayed in touch with him even years after you’ve graduated.
“I think I saw him with Kaminari last, but he could be anywhere by now, being a host means a lot of running around.” You both laugh, remembering how it went last time Shinsou hosted a party.
You go to speak but the voice of the person you’re looking for gets your attention.
“Hello, can I get everyone’s attention.”
Everyone turns to look at him, a bright light shining on him as the rest of the room darkens.
He flinches, holding his hand up to block the light from your eyes.
“Sorry!” You hear Kaminari’s voice yell out before the light softens. Shinsou just chuckles, patting down his suit, a nervous habit of hit.
“So I bet you’re all wondering why I’ve invited you here tonight.” You look around to see your closest friends nod, some as confused as you.
“As you all know, a couple years ago I started going out with this girl.” His eyes scanned the crowd, landing on you. You could see him instantly relax and he let out a shaky breath. “The day we got together was the best day of my life because even then I knew that she was the girl I was going to marry. She’s supported me through everything, from the moment we met. I’m not really good with words, but I just wanted everyone to know how much I love and appreciate her. Love, will you come up here with me.”
You feel your throat tighten as your eyes fill with tears and everything after that becomes a blur.
You feel someone wrap their arm around your shoulder and pull you into them.
“Hey, you okay?” You hear Midoriya’s voice and you’re brought back.
“Y-yeah, I’m fine. Better than fine, I’m ecstatic!” You grin up at him, the tears in your eyes falling.
“Hey...” He whispers softly and pulls you towards the exit, the cold breeze causing goosebumps on your arm.
You can’t help yourself, you start sobbing into his arms as he pulls you into his chest.
“It hurts Izuku! It hurts so fucking much and I can’t do anything about it!.” You cry out, your words muffled against his chest.
“I know, love, I know.” He murmurs, petting your hair and holding you closer.
Of course he knew, he was in the same position as you, the person he was in-love with just got engaged to someone else.
After 30 minutes when you’ve stopped crying, you feel him pull away from you and reach his hand up to wipe away your wet cheeks.
“We need to be happy for them.” He mumbles, a few tears flow down his face. “They’re happy together.”
You reach your own hand up and wipe away his tears.
“I know, but I can’t help but want to ask him…”
You feel a raindrop fall on your cheek, and for a second you think you’re crying again but then it starts pouring on the both of you.
You both let the rain consume you, feeling some sort of comfort in the icy cold water.
“...what is it about him? What makes him so much better than me?” He continues what you were saying before, both of you letting your tears fall without a care in the world.
You glance at each other, silently coming to the realization that you really are in the same position and it fills you with some sort of comfort because at least you’ll have someone to talk to, someone who understands you.
You both whisper the same words, the strong wind caring them away along with all your emotions.
You feel empty inside, but neither of you would trade this empty feeling for anything in the world because for the first time in years your heart doesn’t ache every time you remember that the love of your life is happy with someone who’s not you.
“Why won’t you love me?”

“Hey, I know this is a weird question to ask but…” Uraraka rubbed the side of her neck as you stared at her. Just like Shinsou, you thought to yourself with a small smile.
“Just spit it out Uraraka.” You laughed gently, taking a sip of your drink.
“I know you told me you didn’t have any feelings for him already but that was years ago when we first started U.A. and we already graduated so I just want to make sure you really don’t have any feelings for him because he asked me out on a date and I really want to say yes but I won’t if you have any romantic feelings for him because we’re friends and if I went on a date with someone you like what kind of friend would I be.” She rushed out, her face red as she hid it in her hands.
You stayed silent for a moment, processing her words.
“Shinsou asked you out?” You were shocked to say the least. She nodded, face still in hands afraid that you would look at her with betrayal because it’s the last thing she’d want you to do.
Your heart was beating fast, so fast you thought it might jump out. You wanted to tell her that, yes you had feelings for him, in fact you were in love with him, but it was painfully obvious to you that he would never feel the same way.
“No, Uraraka. I don’t have any feelings for him, he’s my best friend.”
Summary: "I think I’m in love with you.”
“Me too.”

Part 1
“Toshi! Put me down!” You banged your fist onto his back laughing, yelping when he pretended to lose his grip on you.
He spun around, his grip on you tightening as he went faster and faster.
The world around you was nothing more than a blur, everything becoming unrecognizable as you held onto Shinsou as tight as you could.
“I swear if you drop me-” You cut yourself off with a scream as he tripped and tumbled onto the wet grass, moving you so you landed on top of him as he fell on his back.
“You idiot! Are you okay?” Your voice was frantic, but you couldn’t help the laugh that escaped you as he groaned in pain.
You watched as he slightly rolled around in pain, the grass sticking to his clothes as wet patches appeared all over.
“I’m glad that my suffering is entertaining to you.” He sat up, clutching his back as you rolled your eyes at him and he glared at you.
“You caused your own misery, now shut up and suffer.” You tried to crawl away as he began reaching out for you.
You managed to get up on your feet, but before you could run away he grabbed your ankles, causing you to fall. He crawled on top of you but before he could pin you down you flipped both of you over.
You both just wrestled each other for 20 minutes, laughing and tickling each other before you gave up, out of breath.
“Okay, okay. You win.” You breathed out, chest moving up and down as you watched Shinsou, lean back and sit on your thighs, staring back at you.
After you spent 10 minutes staring at each other, you decided to speak up.
“Wha-”
You felt his lips on yours, moving so gracefully against yours as if this wasn’t the first time you two had kissed.
You immediately kissed back, putting in just as much passion into the kiss as he was, wrapping your arms around his neck as you slowly sat up. He moved so he wasn’t sitting on top of you anymore, letting you onto his lap as he held onto your waist.
Gasping softly, you pulled back, hovering your lips over his. “What was that?”
“Some people like to call it a kiss.” His lips tickled yours as he talked, his words making you snort and pull away.
“Yeah no shit, but why.” You peered into his eyes, searching for an answer.
Did he feel the same way I did? Was it a spur of the moment type of thing?
“I-I don’t know?” He seemed so unsure of himself as you moved off of him, sitting on the damp grass.
“I think I like you, but... can I have some time to think about it?” He wouldn’t look you in the eye, focusing more on pulling out the grass that rested under his hands.
“Yeah, of course.” You smiled to yourself, copying him as you thought to yourself.
He might like me back.
______________
“So, I’ve thought about it.” Shinsou mumbled vaguely, staring up at the ceiling of your dorm room.
“Thought about what?” You asked preoccupied with organizing your books, sitting in front of your small bookshelf on the floor.
“Me. You. Us.” You turned to look at him, confused as ever as he mumbled nonsense.
“You’re gonna have to be more specific, purple minion.” You stuck your tongue out at him as he glared at you, dodging the pillow he threw your way.
You laid with him on your bed, playing with his soft hair as you waited for him to speak up again. You laid your head on the bed, slowly falling asleep until he spoke up.
“I... wanna date you?” He sounded so unsure of himself yet again, turning to face you as you opened your eyes.
“I think I’m in love with you.” He whispered, brushing your hair away from your face.
“Me too.” You whispered, so quietly that he barely heard you.
“Can we... can we take it slow? Not tell anyone?” He shut his eyes, pulling you into him as you hummed in content.
“Yeah, we could do that.”
And you both fell asleep with the thought of your best friend being in love with you.
A couple of months pass by and to everyone else’s knowledge, you and Shinsou are just best friends, but in the secret of your dorm rooms, you’re lovers. Holding each other close and lips pressing against one another, whispering promises of forever until.
Or so you thought.
______________
“W-what?” You whispered, holding onto the stuff teddy bear Shinsou had won you a few weeks ago.
“I’m sorry.”
“B-but why?” Trying your hardest not to cry, you turned away from him as your voice broke.
“I-I thought... I thought that I was falling in love with you, but I wasn’t. I tried to convince myself that I was, but I can’t lie to myself anymore. I can’t lie to you anymore. ”
You’re heart broke into a million pieces, after being in love with your best friend for nearly 8 years you were convinced he felt the same but you couldn’t be more wrong.
You laid down face first, dropping the teddy bear onto the floor as you reached for your pillow and silently sobbed into it. Shinsou stood at your door, shuffling uncomfortably as he itched to comfort his best friend but he knew it would only make it worse for you.
“You’re my best friend... I will always love you but-”
“Just not in that way.” You sniffled, reaching for a blanket to wrap yourself in to find some sort of comfort.
“Yeah.” He swallowed hard, tears falling down his face as he watched his best friend cry, knowing he couldn’t do anything to comfort you.
“Please, just leave.” You whispered, hugging yourself tight as you turned away from him.
“Do you want me to call someone over?” He offered, and you knew all he was doing was trying to help but it hurt more the longer he stayed in your room.
“No one knew about us and I’d like to keep it that way.”
“Okay.”
You waited for him to leave until you started sobbing into your pillow, wishing Shinsou loved you as more than a best friend.
