finsennn my love ofc I’ll write for him!! I’m always writing for idv lmao. I also think I may have gotten off track with these and wrote it wrong.. oh well!

also sorry if it’s not that great or kind of short/ooc, im just now coming back to writing . .

• Finsen hasn’t experienced any sort of love before: both platonic and romantic, so when he found out you liked him, he didn’t believe it.

• He brushes off the idea of a romantic relationship with him. His entire life he had been relentlessly bullied by his peers, so how could you fall in love with him? But a part of him wonders what it would be like to have someone to rely on, someone to go home to everyday.

• At first, Finsen doesn’t engage in the conversations you make with him when you visit the church hospital. He has to focus on his work, and he certainly can’t get distracted by someone rumored to be fond of him. But eventually he caves in and finds himself enjoying your company.

• Your presence calms him down and he finds himself looking forward to conversing with you whenever you come by the hospital. It takes a long time for him to even acknowledge it, but he does like spending time with you, and you soon become his closest (only) friend.

• It takes an even longer time for Finsen to develop feelings for you, but once he does, he denies them immediately. Finsen doesn’t want to disgust you with his inability to feel pain. He doesn’t want to risk your relationship, even if people say that you do like him back.

• You would probably have to make the first move, since Finsen is so terrified of showing vulnerability. It’s not that he doesn’t want to confess, but what if you decline him? What if someone overhears and starts to mock him? Finsen’s thoughts scare him so much that he sometimes doesn’t even want to face you.

• But when the day comes, Finsen is packing up for the night and heading home. Much to his surprise, he runs into you in the streets of England. Your demeanor is different than usual, almost nervous compared to how usually kind you are. While you two talk, you randomly blurt out a quick confession that caught Finsen off guard immediately. Were you truly in love with him, or was this another dare that you had been forced to say? Either way, you sounded very convincing, and the way you were stuttering made him believe it was the first option.

• Finsen hesitates before accepting your confession, but he still isn’t sure about getting into a relationship. It becomes awkward between the two of you after the confession, but you manage to convince him that you truly did love him. • Later on in the week, Finsen and you go on a date. It isn’t fancy or over the top, but the connection between the two of you is genuine and real. Seeing you in the sunlight on that day, Finsen realized he is in love with you.

• When the two of you start an official relationship, he wouldn’t treat it differently than when you weren’t dating. You’re gonna have to be the one to initiate the first move again, because he’s so scared of messing up!! It’s his first relationship, give him a break..

• Finsen isn’t very clingy by nature, but after a long day at work, the best thing for him is just to lay in your lap while you play with his hair. He LOVESS the feelings of your hands on him; it assures Finsen that he’s capable of love just like anyone else.

• His dates usually involve something where you two are outside. Finsen adores seeing you in the light, it’s his favorite thing since you look so beautiful. His love language is definitely words of affirmation since he doesn’t always have free time. Whether it’s him complimenting you or you reassuring your love for him, Finsen is happy!

• If the relationship happens while he’s in the manor, I feel he would be a lot more clingy than pre-manor Finsen. His tendrils would always find their way to your wrist or waist. It feels a bit weird since they’re so slimy, though..

• I think Finsen would be a mediocre cook at best, so you would have to teach him for the most part. With your help he definitely gets better! His favorite thing to make is shortbread cookies since they’re easy. He always makes them for you whenever you’re tired or sick.

• Going back to the manor thing; I think Finsen would be really hesitant to chase after you! Whenever he sees you decoding, he pretends he doesn’t notice as he walks by. If it’s ever end-game he always gives you the dungeon whenever possible <3

• to be honest I don’t think Finsen would be a very jealous person since he would view it as a weakness. If you’re jealous, he’ll constantly reassure you that he could never love someone as much as he loves you.

• He absolutely melts if you ever touch his tendrils. They sort of have a mind of their own and always wander to you like said, so whenever you touch them back, he feels like he won the lottery. Finsen is overjoyed you don’t find him disgusting or weird.

• Finsen is just the sweetest with you and could never purposefully harm you. You’re his favorite person in the whole world and that won’t ever change.

general relationship headcanons for Finsen.

➺ cw : one mention of unethical human experiments, otherwise none. i mostly based myself on when he was alive, finsen is said in his design notes that he has CIPA, not CIP, but they never mention anything about anhidrosis or the inability to feel temperature, so i had to somehow blend the two together and it is not 100% medically accurate (i will make a more elaborate post on this someday).

Finsen isn't exactly the most affectionate person in the world. mostly because half the time he's thinking about his research on phototherapy. and it'd also be difficult to get into a relationship with him, since his soft side is only reserved for children, but perhaps if you also showed a certain fondness for children and approved of his research he might become intrigued by you. another thing that will certainly cause him to become fond of you would be if you made him feel real, if you caused him such an emotional turmoil that he wouldn't feel as numb as he usually does.

Finsen is a very introverted man as he never had that much of a social circle and has been treated with cruelty for most of his life, so you'd have to take initiative for most romantic interactions. referring to my previous point, you'd also have to be a relatively kind person but not weak, as he has a negative view on weakness.

since he has CIP he might often wound himself without noticing, and while he likely checks himself for wounds daily, he might allow you to help him with places he cannot easily see. i feel like he would be rather impartial to physical affection, mostly since unlike the average person for him it feels a lot more 'muted'. but he certainly won't shy away from it, as physical proximity with a loved one causes the production of oxytocin and still feels pleasant to him, albeit not physically. it is also plausible for Finsen to want a child of his own, but the fear of passing on his condition would make him feel less inclined to have one. he might also accidentally hurt you, as he's not properly familiar with how easily you can make someone feel pain.

also he would absolutely not tell you about the fact that he does human experiments on the side. also, unfortunately you'd come second to his research and experiments, as they define his whole life and his sense of self. overall he'd be a pretty good lover, albeit mildly distant since he's quite passionate about his research and quite secretive about said research.

Well, a little derangement never hurt anyone, and it can be argued that it gives you a little flare, but you were definitely another kind of mad.

Filled with a rage so palpable it burned hot under your skin.

They had gotten to him. Your beloved Finsen, gone; the one they deemed evil with their poisonous tales, masking their effervescent rot by magnifying and distorting his own.

Finsen was gentle compared to those beasts. The dentist’s swamp? absolute nonsense! why be afraid of a swamp when every person that spouted rumours of the same dentist possessed a mouth of a venomous snake.

They bit into your beloved, and you weren't able to get to him in time.

Even now, as you peered in the strangely desolate hospital, usually housing patients in every bed but now bare except for the few staff that remained — which sadly, your Finsen was not amongst, and this time you truly did wish he was.

You stood rooted to your spot for a while. You hadn't even realised you were crying, not with the rain already rolling off your soaking body, but even with the discomfort bleeding into you, you couldn't bring yourself to move.

The pedestrians, the remaining ones at this time of night, all gazed at you with unnerved looks. Dazed, you finally tear your eyes away from Sacred Heart Hospital; ironic, because your heart, only freshly found, wasn't even in it anymore.

The cold nipped at your viscera, sending painful chills through your body, but the ache in your chest was far more noticeable than anything else you felt.

With steps that felt weighted by lead, you mindlessly wandered into the swamp they had so cruelly dragged him into.

Even as the murky water stained your socks and swallowed up your shoes, you continued your trek — feet running on autopilot, retracing the very steps you took the previous days before.

You never found the exact place they took him to, and perhaps that's what kept feeding you false hope of his survival.

Soon, you found yourself at one of the only well-lit areas of the swamp. The moon shone on you like a spotlight, painting a morose portrait of longing.

Even as the acrid earthy smell of the swamp imposed on your senses, you couldn't bring yourself to leave just yet. You should've been afraid really, but you couldn't care enough to be with him out of the picture.

He motivated you to get better; constantly participating in his phototherapy helped you, dragging you out of the mental depths that kept pulling you farther and farther in.

As his patient, you should have kept it professional, but he drew you out of your hellish swamp and into the warmth of his own. Even if it resulted in drowning, you'd let yourself get pulled deeper in.

You stood until your legs ached, until all the fireflies left. Perhaps you had stopped caring for your physical state for a little too long because eventually, your body felt like it was collapsing.

The tree bark felt rough against your skin as you pushed yourself back against the nearest tree; you swore that amidst your more lucid moments, you could hear the trees laughing. Well that's not possible now isn't it? unless you were actually losing yourself.

But who were you to ponder as you fell into an unwilling slumber — someone could attest that it was a slumber and not death, no matter how much you looked like a corpse.

He was certain you were alive, because it was through his lens that he witnessed your survival.

Even as the townspeople whispered about your disappearance in the near future, about how not even the dentist’s devotee was spared from his wrath.

Even with one limb rendered mostly immobile, Finsen carried you. He attempted his best not to jostle you whilst your head laid on his shoulder, but he couldn't delay your treatment any further.

Even as a dead corpse himself, his temperature felt nearly the same as yours.

Heterochromatic eyes gazed down at your face, trained on the dark circles under your eyes — the ones that a few weeks ago, had already lightened through your joint efforts. Your skin, your overall complexion, and most certainly your psyche, had probably relapsed.

‘Their progress has been rendered to nothing’ he sighed gravely, tightening his hold around your frail body. Months of improvement gone, and all that under less than a month. He bit back the curse fighting its way out of his throat, gritting his teeth.

He no longer breathed, he had no heartbeat, but all his emotions and motivations remained. For what it was worth, he still felt for you.

Even if what he felt for you partly encompassed a deeply rooted obsession that couldn’t be pulled out, stemming from the desire to be needed or even desired for just his presence. No matter if it resembled the cavity-ridden teeth he often extracted, he wouldn't do the same — this was beneficial, why would he rid himself of something that made him feel more alive, more grounded.

They called you cursed, simplifying you and boxing you into the label of sick and infectious, even when you were not at all contagious. In fact, wouldn’t it be more fitting to label them as such, with how vile their existence is.

His eyes, infected as they are, are still able to see you as you are, and so, he witnesses the telltale signs of your nightmares. With a gaze bearing the fondest and most affectionate gaze he's ever had, a tentacle caresses your cheek, slowly smoothing out your distressed expression. “Shh, rest well my dear, we'll be home soon.” he rasped out.

He'd bring you to his hidden residence, he still needed to tend to you and ensure that you recover properly after all. Only after you recovered would he finally accept the invitation from the deep.

You wouldn't refuse, in fact, you'd likely get upset if he insisted on going alone. He'd loathe to see that expression on your face, so he'd oblige.

He'd protect you once you both plunged yourselves into the darkness that reached out to him through those tentacles. No matter if it meant losing his already infected body, he'd ensure you remained in one piece.
