Acceptance 💠 This has been a very tough year for me. In May I said goodbye to my partner of 7 years, I moved into a new apartment, and promptly flew to the east coast for @reid_sauce’s wedding. I caught a cold, and then spent a week visiting my parents. Despite feeling crummy, a happy highlight was collaging with my Mom for the first time. Perhaps you saw the video I posted in June. I started this collage back then, and it has been sitting in a folder, waiting for 1 final piece of paper to be added.
The title “Acceptance” originally referred to the pain and heartbreak I have been feeling. Letting go of what was, moving on, and trying to make new memories and feel whole again.
But looking at it now, I think the theme of time and aging is also relevant. The child in the swing is sort of saying goodbye to youth, but also finding it again up in the tree branches.
I cried while writing this. The mind and heart are incredibly powerful and can take us to both unparalleled heights and unbearable lows. Here’s to accepting as best we can, and finding a more purposeful, happy future.

I’ve seen @heavyhymns do some freestyle cuts recently; I started this piece with his imagery in mind. I cut the first face and flipped over the magazine page to find a second face on the other side.
