Some people think Derek Edwards influenced Norm Macdonald and some people think Norm Macdonald influenced Derek Edwards. They were both part of the same Yuk Yuk's comedy club circuit in Canada in the late 1980s.
"There was Derek Edwards," said Norm, "the most Canadian of any comic ever, comedy's equivalent of Stomping Tom Connors. A living folk legend."
And Derek was… what? A pair of dark eyes that hid more than they revealed and some broad shoulders and a mouth that could be cold and thin and then suddenly widen into a generous grin just when you thought such a thing was impossible.
