Danwasn’t exactly your typical anti-drug campaigner ( Drugs are bad, kids! ) but he’d be lying if he said he’d never partaken.The early half of college was still a bit of a blur, but that didn’t stop himfrom acting out the role of counselor and disappointingly wagging his finger at users. Dan hadsome warped notion of a moral high ground, because he had studied these things, and certainly knew better than some addict onthe street.

Hard to put on weight when youdon’t have an appetite, or the money. ” He was reminded of the decades oldDARE advertisements, narrated by a cute, animated rabbit in a baseball cap. “ Iguarantee that guy’s liver has doubled in size by now. ”

it didn’t get any easier as time went on. the pain, the torture. muscles regenerated, and nerve endings were never allowed to remain fried. with no fear of liver damage, wade allows himself to load up on ibuprofen and aspirin every chance he gets. he’ll need it once he gets home - then again, he always does. 

but wade’s gotten better at managing through the pain. that shudder, the lightheadedness as soon as his skin is punctured is something he can talk through now. as he stands, desperately trying to keep his feet on the ground to prevent himself from slipping down further on rusted metal, he’s trying not to catalogue which organs he can feel pierced. by now, it’s nearly second nature. 

❝ can’t teleport me off, huh? guess somebody is shit out of luck. ❞   wade teases, and there’s no evidence in his voice that he’s dying. he’s always dying - people always seem to forget that bit.    ❝ if i were you, i’d call an uber and get out of here. ❞    he can reach his phone, and though he doesn’t want to, he knows he can call cable - maybe the most able to stomach the sight, and one of the many capable of pulling him off of it.
