I’ve had some news happy enough to have me sobbing. It’s been over a year since he was with me, he’s gone from Qld to NSW and now all the way to Western Australia to his final home. I truly love this boy, now I can breathe knowing he’s where he needs to be. Good luck, habibi ✊🏼

This is a great little clip of a wild-living 12 month old male dingo in the Northern Territory. There’s not a heap of footage of wild dingoes just doing their thing, so I’m pretty excited to have stumbled on this. You can get a pretty good picture of dingoes skittish temperament and awareness of the person recording the film at a distance, as well as dingoes distinct tracking movement. This tracking is usually the first thing to get my attention if I see a dingo-like animal from far away. If the didge audio hadn’t been put over, it would have been good to see a panic cough and typical vocalisations apart from the howling you seem to be bombarded with everywhere.. but still, yay! I can’t wait to get some recordings of dingoes just being dingoes - not trapped, bred in captivity, humanised, or in a typically humanistic environment.

Look at those legs! This boy is a desert type dingo.. I'm not positive, but I'd say he's from Centeral/ South Australian region. Desert dingoes are often longer legged, leaner, with lighter colouring, thicker fur on their underbelly (when the ground is burning hot, dingoes can lay on their stomach to give their paws a rest). They have longer necks than their southern counterparts, and their tails are typically a bit shorter. Many dingoes have a dorsal stripe, which you can see faintly on this guy. The fur is just slightly longer, and it's usually more common on females than males.
