100 Mile Finisher 📣 I'm not much of a runner but I managed to get off the line before the XR that I parked beside. It was utter mayhem with the crashed bikes and sketchy riders. I was really getting into a groove and felt like I was into the "A" riders until between mile 6 and 7. Some donkey landed on my left handlebars from behind and took us both out while I was running in 5th gear. We were there for 15 minutes straightening things out. The guy held my front wheel and I twisted the bars. No result. Had to lay it over and jump on the front wheel to somewhat straighten it out. Really I was pretty lucky to get out with only a really bruised leg I can't walk on plus broken parts. I just tried to squeeze the bike to take pressure off the left leg. Met Tony Allen near the finish and had to double him back to the pit as he ran out of fuel. Thanks to the Canadian pit crew for helping me refuel, take my rynopower / water and ditch my jacket. My second lap was better and smoother and I finished 53 in the 40 class. Happy to get 2 laps. Iron Man Poker run FTW 😜🔥💧 Would you ride in the rain?⠀ .⠀ This was our first opportunity to ride the desert terrain in Odessa WA. Perhaps we could have waited out the rain but we had a schedule and stuck to it. Definitely fun. I used Rain-X on the outside of the goggles and the faster I went and the more rain hit the lenses, the faster the water just ran off the goggles leaving great vision. StumpJumpers 48th Annual Desert 100 - was such an awesome race. I had the best time ever racing. With 6000 people attending, 3300 for Poker Run on Saturday and 1000 racers on Sunday the size of this event was massive. I can't say that I enjoy camping with that many people but the racing clearly made up for that. The start was intimidating but it went off just fine. Every check had about 10 workers getting the racers on their way. In the 50-59 class there were 139 entries but the start was a shared start with the A line going first and the B line going second. Each line was a mile long, side by side with a Le Mans (running) start. My goal was just to have some rides on rubber tires and to try to get into shape for our races up here. I'm pleased to say that I ended up 7th in my class and 11th overall in the 50 mile classes. I loved the terrain and the riding in general.⠀ ⠀ I used the Dunlop AT81RC (Reinforced Carcass) with the Tubliss system and it was money! It is a desert tire so I thought I would try. It was so gnarly with rocks my chain block slider came back smashed but the tires worked great with a bib mousse in front and Tubliss rear.⠀ ⠀ Swipe right to see my trophy.⠀ ⠀ Thanks to StumpJumpers for an awesome event.
