Last Friday, the Emirates American Football League (EAFL) hosted its 2nd annual Desert Bowl Championships in Dubai Sports City. In a game full of twists, turns and a random torrential downpour, the Abu Dhabi Wild Cats faced off against the Dubai Stallions – featuring Hult’s very own Nathan Justice and Arjun Suria.

Now, if you’re looking for an ESPN-esque recap of this game, I suggest you wander over to The National for a proper play-by-play. Here on The Desert Daily, we prefer to cover the bare essentials and save valuable editorial space for the fun stuff.
To cover off on the essentials – despite their winning-streak all season, the Dubai Stallions lost to the Abu Dhabi Wild Cats by a hair! The final 14-13 score rendered the Wild Cats as champions, but anyone looking on from the stands would agree that the Stallions held their own and made us proud! They were even pegged to take the title, but a stroke of luck in favor of the Wild Cats toward the end of the game caused victory to be snatched from their hands in an unexpected twist.

Now for the fun stuff…in an epic jet-setter move, we saw a cameo from Sir Michael Park on the field, mere hours after arriving in Dubai from Myanmar, and before returning to the U.S.
The Stallions may not have taken the Desert Bowl title, but they had some of the best-looking supporters in the stands.
In not-so-fun news, Nathan Justice suffered a busted lip and what we were told by the medics was a fractured leg toward the end of the game. There was a bone-looking-bump-thingy poking out and everything! He was escorted off to “surgery” via ambulance. Like the true warrior that he is, he kept a smile on his face the entire time.
Shout-out to our favorite emergency services guy, who kept the mood light during the whole ordeal.
So, imagine our shock when Nathan walked into class on Sunday (on both legs...no crutches or cane), like a G. Apparently, once he arrived at the hospital, doctors confirmed via x-ray that his leg was not fractured. In fact, from the looks of things his leg was just fine, despite all the bruising and swelling.
We’re thinking this probably confirms that Nathan is a mutant, which we’re geekishly excited about!
In other non-important news, the hovering Sports360.com camera was the coolest thing ever.
