Deserted Phans (the Phantom fan forum that emerged after the PhantomFans and PhansOnline forums shut down years ago) has quietly been revived. All pending members have been added. All historical topic threads remain intact and may I say it’s been quite a stroll down memory lane skimming through some of those posts. And probably pretty educational for newer phans, too.

If phans are looking for a place to talk “Phantom” in a more organized manner than most social media options give you nowadays, you are more than welcome to join.

Do you know why people stopped using DesertedPhans?

I think a main thing is that forums in general are dying. They offer more old-fashioned technology, and I think especially that photos, sound etc must be hosted elsewhere made people migrate to Tumblr and Instagram.

I really miss the community DesertedPhans (and before it, the POTO forum and PhantomOnline or whatever they were all called) had. It was a cool place for discussing, sharing and keeping up to date. For me personally Tumblr has replaced a lot of it, which is why I very randomly visit DP these days. I guess that goes for others as well.

That said, I know there are some 30 people still quite active there! So feel free to stop by and say hi. It’s also a very good place for old reference info.

What where your thoughts on Marni's Christine?

She had one of those rare good days, so I rather liked her. Especially her acting. I wrote a review back in the days, at Deserted Phans:

Hi, I'm on a bit of hunt to find pictures of the production, cast, etc. Just pretty much all of ALW's production of it, you can say. So I've been using your blog a lot and tbh, I think you, as the master of all things costumes and more, have pretty much all the pictures, but can you also recommend some other blogs, sites, etc. where I can find pictures of the stage productions? Thank you!

There are SO MANY great Tumblrs! What years was Susan Owen u/s on Broadway and who was the u/s before her?

I believe she started out in the Broadway production in 2003, after having being Christine alternate in the US tour from 1997-98. She’s still in Phantom on Broadway, performing the role of Madame Firmin, and once in a blue moon also Christine. Since they got TWO understudies for the role of Christine in 2002, there’s less performances for each of them, and it seems the other u/s Elizabeth Welch is more likely to go on nowadays. The understudies before her… (Rebecca Pitcher (1998), Elizabeth Southard (1999), Marie Danvers (1999-2000), (Susan Facer (2000), Elizabeth Southard (2001), Elizabeth Southard and Kris Koop (2002-03), Kris Koop and Julie Hanson (2003). SEE HOW MUCH USE I GOT FOR ALL THOSE PLAYBILLS I GOT FOR FREE OVER AT DESERTED PHANS?!? :)
