Inforgraphics have come a helluva long way recently
Visual.ly versus Infogr.am
The boom of online design communities ain't nuthin' to write about nowadays. Showcasing portfolios have been around the block a few times and there are tons of great examples of getting quality work through online collaboration. The same I believe applies to Visually for the quality of output and its size (especially seeing that is such a niche corner of design with the express purpose of data visualisation).
Infogram has only been around for a year, but they're trying to separate themselves by offering templates for DIY nuts that want to convert spreadsheets into infographics. Whilst I do believe there is a space in the market for a nice bit of competition, I am also of the opinion that design templates are more than likely to hit a critical mass as regards satisfaction and duplicity sooner rather than later. In the meantime though, I'm looking forward to creating one or two myself with some social media metrics in the near future.
