Elana Schlenker is a Brooklyn based graphic designer and art director who specialises in design for print, identities and packaging.  Featured above is just a handful of Elena's wonderful work that has a strong influence in beautiful typography, layout and strong art direction. As well as her design work, Elena also creates and curates a typographic magazine full of typographic porn (not real porn) called Gratuitous Type. The other week I had the pleasure of visiting Two Associates, a small design studio based in South West London who specialise in publishing based design and design to print. Some of the clients they work / have worked for are Faber & Faber, Guardian Books, BBC Books and many more.

David the creative director at Two Associates originally worked for Penguin Books but ended up leaving and creating Two Associates. Now he employs five other designers and himself to create astounding books inside and out without all the fuss behind it. Check out more work by clicking the link above.

Annual Report Brief

At Uni we are currently working on a brief where we have to create a visually appealing annual report for a company we have a lot of knowledge on. Naturally I have chosen Starbucks as I have been a Barista and now Shift Supervisor there for almost 3 years.

When we hear the term annual report we think facts, figures, bar charts, pie charts, line graphs and other such boring technical and statistical cliches. I intend to create something quite far removed from that idea. 

I am going to look at all aspects of the company and try and create something that reflects the image and what the company is all about. I am going to research into other similar annual reports and also different ways I can present my report and make it more interesting and tactile to the audience.
