Is masi a blood clone of shadow (his black arms dna did get derived from a death leech doom spawned. It kinda makes sense ze would look like that if you're going that angle)? It reminds me of how sometimes when you clone a cat you can get completely different fur coats due to the randomness that goes into cat fur color expression.

Nope not a blood clone! Thought that would make for an awesome story line. Masi basically is just an attempt of shadows black arms biology to make a doom eye, which failed due to shadow not knowing how to control it. Prolonged seperation from shadow caused it to gain sentience, creating the silly we all know and love. But yeah Masi wasn’t made to look like shadow other than coloring, early mask designs did however focus more on the hedgehog aspect tho.

The main thing I wanted to keep consistent in masis design was zem having one eye, and a starfish based head/quill shape. Basically I played sxs gens and fell in love with how the doom eye looked and acted and wanted to make an oc based off it.

Originally Masi was gonna be a sonadow kid but I scrapped that later on

I have complex feelings about Windows 11 design ethos. I personally love frosted glass, but I think the "neumorphic" look they chose for their icons is the wrong approach? They feel more like imaginary shapes with drop shadow than real pressable buttons.

I feel like the designers are too scared of straying away from a very uniform look, but for the frosted glass theme to work I think there has to be some divergence from it.

My favorite "neumorphic" design choice in software is the [File] button in office 2010 programs

It's not meant to convey anything in real life but it works and is so pretty. Everything else is made of this machine-like flat plastic material, except for this button which looks glass or emerald. I think that's what really helps sell the look, highlighting important elements of the GUI with different materials.

I may be taking that phrasing incorrectly, buuuuut..

So are we now expected to know and do so much more than past designers? That's okay BUT. . .I don't know exactly how I feel about those high expectations. With today's growing source of technology and sharing skills and spectrum of learning it is indeed possible for upcoming designers to achieve such a status of having a"broad perspective." But. Isn't adequate okay too? However, wouldn't being such an adjective put the label 'I Am Not As Determined (Or As Passionate) As Mister John Smith Sitting Next Me' on yourself? I don't know.

I was talking to a dance buddy a couple weeks ago and he was telling me about his time in school. Mind you he's an engineer, which is completely different. Yet also similar. He was telling me about his trouble to find a job. About how he went to school and studied a broad about of computery engineery things. He was not particularly really good at one thing but instead he had a broad amount of adequate knowledge about a handful of things. And that was his downfall. He did eventually find a job though, and he's sticking to it. (Hooray Intel.)

So what does that say about graphic design and how we are now expected to know about lots of things? Sure, it'd be AWESOME, but will it also be our downfall? Or will I get a job in one topic that I'm adequately good at, get really good at it, then when I am mid-way through my career do the other thing I am adequately good at?

Of all the trendy things in design at the moment, the one that makes me twitch is when someone wants everything lower case. Like the set of business cards I'm working on now, they want no capital letters at all; names, street, city, state, everything all lowercase.
