2002- iStopMotion 1.0 software
2003- Photorealistic Lord of the Rings Gollum digitally animated
2004- Dreamworks SKG and PDI . Ryan- a study of a traditional animators life- wins the Oscar for Best Animated Short. The Film Shark Tale displays digital impact of animation. The Polar Express phenomenon robotics.
2005- Star Wars Episode III: becomes first mainstream feature shot without using film.
2006- Disneys acquisition of Pixar denotes full acceptance of digital animation.
